801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Barry Silbert segwit2x agreement with >80% miner support. on: July 18, 2017, 08:06:48 AM
so this what will happen, it's really becoming a mess https://image.ibb.co/gh1wxv/Bitcoin_flowchart_2017.png

is it true that some miners are already mining the new fork or something?
802  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: there is blood on the streets NOW on: July 18, 2017, 08:01:16 AM
how do you know that from the one who bouch back there are only whales? i don't think every other investors is just panic selling, they sell to buy back cheap coin like the whales do

this thing about the whales manipualting everytime there is a dump, is a bit stupid and i'm not believing it anymore
803  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: About the "Unknown block versions being mined!" warning on: July 18, 2017, 05:45:30 AM
so even in a remote case of an hard fork, which could be imminent, we just leave our coins there on core, and we should be safe from my understanding, as long as we don't move those coins right?
804  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is my method of storing cryptos safe? on: July 18, 2017, 05:42:01 AM
it's safe as long as your desktop is also not infected, if you are really concerned about this use a dedicated machine where you don't install nothing more than the bitcoin client, so you can plug your usb safely there

or just leave few btc(under one) for daily use on your desktop, so you corld storage is not exposed
805  Economy / Speculation / Re: Every online coin is dropping like Crazy today on the charts what happened? on: July 17, 2017, 08:25:58 AM
The bubble has finally burst. That's all.

i don't think so, there was no bubble or not in the way people think about it, it's just this shitty drama about bitcoin that carried all the altcoin down, if there was not a possible chain split we would be sitting on the same value for all the altcoin

but not all the altcoin are dropping some are increasing very high, this is a proof, that was bitcoin fault
806  Economy / Speculation / Re: where are you keeping your coins (1 aug) on: July 17, 2017, 08:21:52 AM
so offline wallet/exchange/services?

always offline on a cold storage of any kind, it doesn't really matter as long as they are offline they are safe from everything, wallet.dat format is the best

backup only the private key is not the best idea if you have hidden address, but i also want to take a risk and i'll leave a small amount on kraken, to see what will happen
807  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin currently anonymous? on: July 17, 2017, 08:10:35 AM
Hello all, im pretty new to btc, currently is Bitcoin anonymous? since it enables privacy in transfer of payment/money

If you don't touch any FIAT, yes it is anonymous enough. Not completely as everyone can track down every address but you can confuse them with mixing services.

If you exchange your bitcoins with FIAT however, your options are;

1-Banks: Not anonymous indeed.
2-Local Traders: They'll see your face. You'll be exposed.

not only touching fiat but also doing any shopping with bitcoin, if you buy something on the web using bitcoin your address and your name are linked and your privacy is compromised

you either use a new address that is not linked to any other in your wallet, or create a new wallet each tiem you want to use bitcoin, so even withotu dumping for fiat you can compromise your anonimity
808  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy before aug 1 or after? on: July 17, 2017, 08:09:07 AM
i doubt it will go lower than $1500 in any case, so better to buy at worst in one week after another little dump or even now is not that bad to buy

around 1 august there is already a risk to be left behind in the case the market increase suddenly again by $500 or more, and this happened already in the past a few times
809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: will the bitcoin ecosystem learn anything from the August crash? on: July 17, 2017, 06:00:31 AM
well it's not like we want an hard fork either, but you can't stop dirty miners that want to run their own altcoin, by creating a chain split, because they are against current possible fix of the block limit, bitmain is the main one that one to do this

since everything is based on consensus you can not stop anyone here from running their own fork, as long as they think it will have a chance to be the main one they will do it

still what matter are the business and merchants accepting the new fork or not
810  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ccminer 2.0 - opensource - GPL (tpruvot) on: July 16, 2017, 08:03:34 PM
btw epsylon, i see that both jha and jackpot coin work on the same algo, but jha do less hashrate...

strange discussion here ... 1080ti is doing 1gh skein easily with alexis miner - no need of high power up.

that what i'm saying on numerous post, but he is the kind of guy that won't admit that he is wrong no matter what, when he is wrong normally he don't reply anymore, at least you know it

Blind leading the blind around then patting eachother on the back. I'm telling you my sources, where to find the information and how to parse it and you just go 'newp ur rung'.

Not just that, you're only trying to push Skein SPECIFICALLY because that's the only one you can currently try and use to disprove what I was saying about 1080tis. If any of the other algos were getting anywhere close to 80% you would've mentioned it, but you didn't because you're absolutely, unequivocally wrong on multiple accounts. Weird, it's like we were originally talking about mining as a whole as well... huh... wonder whatever happened to that discussion.

Oh yeah, I'm sure you've admitted you're wrong before... or really anyone here for that matter. Good blanket statement, just like the other bullshit you're spewing.

spreadcoin is 80% faster, 16.6MH against 9.3, that is basically 80%, JHA and blake2s are also very close to 80%, 4MH versus 7.5MH for blake2s, the same for x17, 11MH versus 20MH

I already pointed out results for x17, they are also on yiimp - it's not 80%, it's 56%. Even with the current max it's only 70% (once again outliers). Blake2s is pretty close to full speed. JHA is 47%...

Weird, I'm not even talking about personal results here. I'm pulling them once again directly from yiimp.

are we looking the same thing? on yiimp it's less than 9mh for the 1070 x17 and 19mh for the 1080ti that is 100% faster...
811  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: July 16, 2017, 10:36:00 AM
well it was pumped like crazy that's why, it went x15, i also know what will be the next one that might go that high, of course i won't say, it seems that they are targetting old cheap coins
812  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: July 16, 2017, 08:13:59 AM
what is the speed with your nexus 7 mod sp? on a 1080ti i'm interested, also c11 mod is for chaincoin? that coin have no volume and the emission is shit, is there any point to make one miner, or i'm missing something? oh i missed that it was pumped x15...
813  Economy / Economics / Re: Probability of Bitcoin split on: July 16, 2017, 08:12:02 AM
remember that one of the two chain will be an altcoin, just that the other will be the one used by everyone else, also this happened with some alt, like ETH, did eth lose its value? no...

A very convenient position

That is, that the blockchain which should prevail will be a genuine Bitcoin while the other which succumbs will be an impostor, an altcoin. The main issue with this reasoning is that you don't know in advance which one will win and which one will lose. Further, you don't take into account the possibility that any of the competing blockchains may not have an overwhelming advantage over the rest of the pack, so things might get very complicated in respect to which blockchain is going to come out the winner. Apart from that, if Jihancoin succeeds, will you use it yourself?

which win will not matter much as long as you don't move your coin before the split you are safe regardless of what it happen, and your coins will likely be the one of the new main chain

Those who prefer to sit on the fence are usually the ones who got stripped most

It is the same as in war, when a country which doesn't want to side with any belligerent party may eventually end up invaded and split by every belligerent (Switzerland had been quite close to that in WWII). More specifically, you assume that you won't lose anything if you just stick to a "wait and see" approach without taking any action, while, in fact, you may be the one losing most since people may start actively dumping their coins if the hard fork happens for real and a dumping war quickly ensues. They would likely end up with at least some fiat on hands, while you may end up with just a pile of shitcoins worth nothing

not really a good comparison, here it's better to not do anything with your money until all this drama about the split is done, or you are at higher risk to lose everythign if you begin to move your coins

besides we can not do anything, unless you are a miners you can't really express your opinion on what you want it's better, you can onyl vote as a mienrs here

I strongly disagree with this approach

But I certainly understand people like you who are passive in their attitude and prefer just to hope for the best instead of actually doing something to get there. In this case, specifically, you can sell your bitcoins (some part thereof), and if you sold them a week ago, you would have already saved like 400 dollars per bitcoin. You could have bought altcoins (as I bought some lites). Simply put, I disagree that there is nothing what you or me, or we can do. Remember that the absence of proof is not the proof of absence. In other words, if we don't know what to do, it doesn't in the least mean that there is nothing what we can do. It is no more than just our lack of knowledge. And even this lack of knowledge itself is not set in stone, and there are certainly ways to fill this void even though we might not be aware of these ways at this point

ah well i can agree that selling now or before, maybe was a good move for two reasons, one because it would give you some profit, the other because you would secure your bitcoin on the exchange, in case they decide to act strange and choose another fork

but i don't like trading, i prefer to hold until i have my target reached, not to dump of course but to use more my coins, also i don't want to expose much my cold storage by selling now and buying again, not worth the risk for now
814  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can we see $50 ? on: July 16, 2017, 08:08:25 AM
not anymore, with japan buying this thing like crazy, i'm not even sure you will see below $1500 anymore, and bears in mind that this last dump is just a thing caused by the biggest bitcoin issue, if it was not for that we would be sitting at $5k already

also at $50 the mining scene would just die, if it last for a long time, because miners have no profit at that level, and you can't just say the diff will go down, that is not an argument, the network would be attackable by anyone at that point
815  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the bitcoin price is going down on: July 16, 2017, 08:05:03 AM
it's because of the issue around the possible chain split, just don't panic, will be solved in a matter of weeks, keep your money on hold position now, or if you can you can dump and buy more coin if you didn't bought everything at peak

it's also obvious that some wahles, are trying to tak eadvantage of this and scare investors by causing a panic selling, which is always the case when there are bad news, i think long term holder should not care much about the value anyway...
816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do Banks fear cryptocurrency on: July 16, 2017, 08:02:45 AM
it depend on the country, i think bank are not really against bitcoin as long as it's regulated on their country, like in japan for example, thanks to the regulation banka nd bitcoin can live together

and because they pay taxes on bitcoin usage they can also benefit from having an additional payment system, i'm not sure but it's possible that in japan, banks do offer some form of interests on deposit already
817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any reward for being the first to relay a transactions? on: July 16, 2017, 05:47:15 AM
there was once a tiny reward for those that were relying the transaction via tor browser as a proxy, but i'm not sure it's still ongoing, anyway was a matter of few satoshi not worth it

too bad node are not seen that important, if you are not a miners you are not securing anything, so you don't get anything, pretty much like a body guard, nodes are not body guard...
818  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin finally legal in India on: July 16, 2017, 05:45:29 AM
I really don't know how they legalize or i-legalize such thing as bitcoin because you are using it with your own internet and computer hardware maybe they just not supporting it before but every citizen of India can use it no matter what happens unless their government issue a criminal liabilities in using bitcoin.

any law regarding bitcoin (legal or illegal) is always about businesses. they can never force individuals to use or not use bitcoin.
so they place laws regarding:
- trading bitcoin in exchanges (exchanges are centralized place, like a business)
- accepting bitcoin (again a physical shop or an online one is known)

if they make it illegal, the exchanges close and the shops stop accepting bitcoin.
and if they make it legal exchanges open or continue and same with shops.

it's not like you use their own exchange which i never heard about, i mena india don't even have an exchange, and they can not certainly stop a foreign exchange like kraken, so even if it was illegal i would just sell abroad and receive on my bank account the money

but perhaps you mean that they would close your bank account if they find this kind of activity, which is another story, still you can use another foreign debit card and get the money anyway
819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Wait a minute! Is Bitcoin about to be hijacked ? on: July 16, 2017, 05:37:23 AM
There's no such thing as hijacking Bitcoin. Whichever version has the most mining/hash power is Bitcoin... like it or not.

that is debatable, what if all the exchange and merchants remain with the shortest chain? because the longest chain is the new ass hole chain commanded by someone that just want to be greedy like miners?

the thing that miners only matter is obsolete, they are not the only one to look when you want to see what is the "true bitcoin"
