1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Memory and Clock settings question for rx 480 8gb. on: May 13, 2017, 11:46:50 PM
Hello I am fairly new to mining and gpus and am not sure if the settings I am currently using harm my GPUS.

I have 6 gpus and these are the settings: (mem/ cor/ mh/s)

gpu1: 2100/1150/27.81
gpu2: 1950/1150/26.21
gpu3: 2050/1200/26.29
gpu4: 1900/1100/25.53
gpu5: 2200/1218/29.06
gpu6: 2200/1218/29.07

Are any of these settings too high that it would harm the GPU?

Update: I am using z170a on ETHos. Now 4/5 xfx cards are not working so im starting to think its not the GPU but something else.

Yes all five of them are the same. I haven't flashed or done anything to them. Theyre cor is set to 1180 and mem to 2000.

I have EVGA 1300 g2 gold, mem clock set at 2000, and cor at 1180. I have plugged in the monitor but the monitor does not recognize the card. Does it matter where the pcie port is connected for it to show up on the monitor?

Edit: I plugged in the monitor on the faulty gpu, the monitor is working fine on it, but I have still getting 0 hash. also this gpu is currently in PCIE slot 2, im not sure if that matters.
Edit2: Something I realized is that the monitor screen glitches out right before the GPU dies. Thank you for telling me to plug in the monitor. Idk what this implies, but it seems like the gpu is faulty.

Hello,

I have purchased 5 rx 480 8gb, but one of them seems to be faulty.
It was mining at 24mh/s like the rest of the graphic cards, but it started to fall gradually from 24->20->14->8->0,
and now it just sits at 0 and will not go up. The fan is running just like the other graphic cards, but it is also 10 degrees C cooler than the rest. I have swapped out the pcie risers already and tested it on different ports. What could be causing this?

Best,
Crystz

Alright my bad.. I have been searching for the past 6 hours.. I thought that this might expedite the process. If you do not want to answer that is fine, and I'm grateful people take the time to help. But honestly, this is only my second post and the spam I caused before was not intentional. Someone told me that I posted in the wrong section so I moved it but ended up posting twice, in this section because i thought it didn't go through.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Help, ETHos will not start with more than 4 GPU. on: May 09, 2017, 02:07:54 AM
Hello, I am trying to start ETHos with 6 Graphic cards, but anything more than 4 GPUs runs into an error.
I have mix and matched the GPUs on different ports and works fine with 4 GPUs. Also before Ethos starts, it shows that it reads all 6 of the graphic cards, but runs into an error on the next screen.
What can potentially be causing this? Thank you for your help.

I apologize I've made an error and tried to delete the post, but it did not let me. I honestly did not mean to spam.. the first post was put in the wrong location and I thought the second one did not go through. I won't do it again.

Hello thank you for taking your time to help, any help is really appreciated  Smiley!

I just finished building my mining rig and everything seems to work fine, but only 3 of my GPUS are powering up. I am currently at the Bios stage and haven't downloaded any OS yet. I am planning on downloading the OS after I am able to power up all the GPUS. The parts I used pertaining to powering up the GPU are:

1. EVGA supernova 1300 G2.
2. these PCIE risers https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GU94QSQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s03?ie=UTF8&ps from amazon.
3. MSI Z170A Pro Gaming Carbon.
4. 5 XFX Rx 480 8gb + 1 Sapphire nitro+ rx 480 8gb.

I plugged in 6 individual 8pin cables from the 6 VGA ports of the PSU to each of the GPU and thought that this would be the main power source. I noticed that my PCIE risers also had a Molex to SATA adapter which I read online to be an extra power source and was not really necessary, however, it seems that only the GPUs that utilize the Extra SATA power source powers up. My Psu only comes with 4 SATA ports and 1  is being used by the SSD, and as result only 3 of my GPUs are connected to the SATA. Each SATA cable has multiple SATA ports in them and I was wondering if I can connect 2-3 GPUS on a single cable to power up the rest of the GPUs.

I've also read online that SATA cables shouldn't be used to power up GPUS as they don't have enough Amps and that I should be using Molex to 6pin adapters instead.

What am I doing wrong and what are some steps I can take to fix this problem! Thank you once again.

14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Question about Rx 480 manufacturer on: April 30, 2017, 10:37:15 PM
Hello I am trying to build 6-7 GPU mining rig with the z170a pro carbon gaming motherboard, but I am currently stumped on deciding which GPU to purchase.
I am currently looking at the XFX Radeon GTR RX 480 8gb (RX480P8DFA6). I feel uneasy about purchasing the XFX because they are so readily available compared to brands such as Sapphire.

The other options I have been looking at are the rx 570 and 580 model, but heard that they consume a lot more power. My question is, is it safe to purchase the XFX models for mining?
