$52 Usd, each L3+ now   Cry

i pay $2400 for each one and Roi still a dream

I never thought this day would come.
They have to clear it because they contracted to buy alot of chips, right?

can we retrieve the coins already?

yes

And sell where. Is it a gain or a loss? lol

Continuing to mine a coin that you are sure will increase in value is otherwise always going to be far more profitable than shutting your miner off.

Then its better to mine it with GPU, because its much more efficient than a B3.

Bitmain Antminer B3 was built to offload non-seller called SOPHON BM1680.

They developed those chips 1,5+ years ago and nobody wanted them. B3 (Sophon chips) are not developed to mine Bytom.

With some weird coding tricks Bitmain successfully managed to make those chips mining Bytom. Then they put all BM1680 into some aluminium boxes and called it "Tensority Asic". Haahaa! I thought ASIC's are chips, special produced to do computing operations at max efficiency.

If all GPU's (maybe CPU also?) are much more efficient than BM1680, why should I use Antminer B3?

@Bitmain: Stop telling us lies about hacked/stolen code! YOU can develope chips/ASIC! Some non professional coders managed to beat your B3 using GPU!! GPU is not a specialized chip to mine Bytom. Thats the best proof, your BM1680 is not built to mine Bytom.

Bitmain, you scammed me!

You sold a super hightec special developed ASIC to me,which is NOT! You sold me old and almost useless chips, packed into a box and telling me "look whats that? Our new ASIC Miner!".

somewhere in the thread I and others mentioned this. These units are the A.I. units for artificial intellegence...been aroud a year or so....so they built a coin around

the units when they became and/or saturated the A.I. market. Bitmain: rinse, wash, repeat.

And of course it did not work, but damn they moved a lot of old A.I units out of production for new A.I. units from the $$$ to be put into newer research labs...of course

they expected it to work well enough that they could rinse/wash/repeat that as well

so yeah, it was a 'trap' indeed...consumers left holding the bag...I new this to be true ..in that THE NEXT DAY they had these B3 miners to sell ie...no pre-orders...

sorry for your loss, we have all been there.

myself, I doubt I will buy any 1 algo miner from anyone again, FPGA maybe or something where firmware can be adjusted...I think pow-scrypt may actually die

from bitmain's stunts....as a 'former' big miner (30 plus units in a data hall of various mnfg's) I'm out...to hobby mode..IMHO this is not the time to buy equipment

if you do want equipment i'd hoard coin and wait for a 'hopeful' 25% pump of the current price..then consider it. At this price of 8k sideways price it makes no sense

and at 6k it makes no sense ....this added to the only option is bitmain etc...best maybe to wait till 2019 and look for new options and/or save crypto on the pump.

w/o a pump ...no reason to get new equipment even if it made sense.....sideways price is always sketchy to dump eventually again IMHO

again sorry for your loss

So, thats why those asic machines are shiat....

Cryptocompare shows 314usd per month at 10 cents electricity now. How u guys doing.
New Z9 mini and Z9 coming soon
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: August 05, 2018, 02:09:14 AM
Calculator shows it is now 388 usd per month already at 10 cents electricity...
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain launches the Z9 Equihash miner on: July 24, 2018, 02:18:41 PM
I am debating if I should buy the 2nd batch, since I have the $250 coupons?! What are you guys doing with the coupons? I have free electricity included in my apartment cost so I would be happy if I could just ROI in  half a year. But I am afraid those will become doorstoppers eventually?!

With free electricity and coupon i'd give you the green light....sounds like zcash is not gonna fork now so you'll always have a coin to mine.  Even though all the z9 ever made(and the faster more effecient ones coming out) will be on it with you, you should be good with the free power and the low consumption on this device to at least ROI and not get your apartment supervisor angry at the high power bills(for awhile anyway).  But yeah this guy will be a big paper weight in 3-6 months, so if you expect your free power situation to change i'd say no.

What are you talking about? Zcash just did a vote at their Montreal conference and will be putting ASIC resistance on the back burner. https://www.coindesk.com/zcash-governance-panel-shoots-research-asic-resistance/
By the time they get around to it, ASIC mining will have a strong foothold and the GPU miners will go searching elsewhere for the few scraps left; if not shutting down entirely. Since most of the mining hash will be derived from ASICS, I am sure they will get increasing push back from their ASIC mining community. Who is going to go along with turning their coin making machines into bricks?

Same reason s9s are becoming big paper weights...too many s9s and better newer models coming.  Also Iíd expect all equihash coins to fork including zcash eventually so ya big paper weight one way or another.

Yep, do not underestimates asic manufacturers such as bitmain's ability to spam the market. Considering it takes very low electricity to even make a couple of dollars a month, majority of these machines will not break even I believe.

Impossible,  all first batch owners will break even before the next batch ships.

How so? It is making only 425 USD per month now at 10 cents electricity and it was around 600+ a month back? It is going down fast as it is.

425/month?  mining what?

My z9 mini still pumping out $27/day on avg.  basically the same as it was a month ago.

It is 510 profit per month now according to calculator... And it is about to get hit hard by incoming machines.

This delivered around end june right. So, it has nearly been a month.

Wat was the original cost, 1.9k for 1 piece was it? I am wondering if it will break even.

So far i can only withdraw a portion of it and I have tried to withdraw it into my exscudo wallet. Transaction says status registered and nothing else yet. I gotta wait for the withdrawal to occur. It isnt instant?

This exchange needs more promotion too.

BTM is going to be ten times higher in 2 months and this (and all other bitmain machines) will be profitable again.
Now - unplug your B3s if you care about this shitty amount of electricity and wait for its moment.

It wont be because GPUs will go and do it more efficiently, meaning the B3 wont be useful regardless.
The B3 will only be profitable if the GPU are alot more profitable.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: July 05, 2018, 10:06:44 AM
I filed a complain ticket and they basically said no decision made if any compensation will be given for selling u this brick.
They are trying to sweep it under the carpet...

To be fair, it WAS a gamble from the get go. Unless they knew the coin would tank (which, keep in mind, ALL crypto is pretty low at the moment) and/or they knew that GPUs were capable of more and would eventually outpace the miner, they didn't actually do anything wrong.

Gambling on a new machine designed for one specific (and NEW) coin is, well, a gamble. You don't get pissed at the casino when you roll craps, unless they loaded the dice.

Yeah but lol they did it so poorly and sold us at such a crap price...

Hashrate didnt go up greatly despite the litecoin falling alot. I assume there are still no new machines being created for litecoin and the way litecoin is these days, I doubt anyone will bother. Other coins are just better.

I dont think there is a new L3+ and there probably wont be any new ones. There is no incentive to spend so much to develop new miners when the price have gone down so much. The risk wont payoff and will probably lead to losses. It is probably the same with the S9.

Donít forget chip dev times lag by at least 6mo to 1yr. Just because prices donít make sense now does not mean they werenít spending millions for R&D when they were selling L3s by the thousands. Bitmain was certainly working on 16nm for scrypt after they shipped the L3ís. Iím already working with a 22nm 1w/mh chip.

I kinda doubt it. No offense but even if u get a better NM, u probably cant sell it cheap enough like bitmain can. Bitmain S9 is still better than T1 after all. L3+ is still the best and Inno's litecoin miner which is already at 16nm cannot beat L3+ 28nm anyways. It is too expensive. No point wasting money on it especially when the  underlying coin isnt gaining huge value.

Just my 2 cents.
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 29, 2018, 10:55:11 AM
Any body know how much BTC you would have mined if you bought an S9 from the first batch?

Let say you received the 1st batch on 15 Jun 2016, and mining @kano.is, with avg 14.1x Ths, u have 1246 rewards @ aprox. BTC5.839

Wats the point. U buy btc and hold makes many times more....
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Launching the Antminer L3+, World's Most Powerful and Efficient Litecoin Miner on: June 29, 2018, 10:53:31 AM
If Bitmain is still selling them they HAVE to be a good buy right? RIGHT what is wrong with them. From a marketing standpoint. I get economy but what they are doing is blowing my understanding of a functioning market lol

I believe bitmain paid in advance for chips. These are non-refundable. And now they have to slash prices greatly to clear inventory. Basically, they making the whole market pay for their mistake...

The crazy thing is it seems canaan is gonna IPO to raise money to do the same. I read about it somewhere. They get to lower price if they pay for inventory in advance I think. It is madness really...
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: June 29, 2018, 04:19:47 AM
The Antminer B3 situation appears different from other ASICs which have declining ROIs. I recall the B3 was advertised to be an ASIC for mining Tensority (BYTOM), and the algo was to be mined with Bitmain B3 hardware and firmware with options of benefiting from AI mining/processing opportunities.

However, it would seem that the ĎASICí chips in the B3 are not efficient on the Tensority algo, and Tensority can be mined on non-B3 machines.

The Antminer S9, L3 etc are very efficient on the algo they were designed to mine and that is why buyers purchase these ASICS. Buyers can assess declining returns depending on units shipped and the efficiency of the miner.

The B3 is not even efficient at mining Tensority. It is not fit for purpose. It appears to be a box stuffed with non-specific ASIC chips to clear inventory, and not a true ASIC.

Therefore, proper disclosures were not made to purchasers of the B3  and a reasonable calculation of risk could not be made.

Yep, this is a major failure. GPU is cheaper and more efficient than B3 WTF. This is unheard of....
Does bitmain have any pride left to do the right thing and compensate us? This brick is nonsense from the get go.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain Launches the New Antminer B3 Miner on: June 29, 2018, 04:18:17 AM
So, compensation for selling us this brick? Maybe they should change their name to Brick Main...zzzzzzzz
