21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in Silence on: January 29, 2020, 03:36:55 AM
Taking all these criticisms enables me to remain patient and continue investing and doing work such as bounties and campaigns. I realized, bitcoin do really is full of scam and frauds way back before when I haven't seen the beauty of it yet. I have joined many campaigns, lose more than 50 dollars in trading and investment but I didn't stop.

So for us who thinks quitting upon criticism, doing bitcoin related stuffs in silence is what we need, rather than pushing people to believe as they will just resist and counter you back with bitcoin being scam and fraud.

I am sure that your story can also be the story of many of us here in this forum. There is really that beauty and benefit of waiting for the right time. While BTC should be considered as a currency, we can not deny that many of us here are looking at it as an investment, much like the real gold. People who are not good at trading has this opportunity to hold on for Bitcoin and just wait for the right time for it to ripen and harvest some possible profits.

We also have to understand that many people have the wrong information fed on them about Bitcoin, and so they are afraid that they can be losing money...well as an investor one has to do some diligence and the same thing is rue with Bitcoin. The scams actually has nothing to do with Bitcoin just like we don't call a pyramiding scheme using the USD as its medium exchange to be a Dollar Scam. In every industry, there will always be scammers or people who are making it their business to fool others, and with the cryptocurrency industry this has become a big playground for many of them that is why we should be careful.
22  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's over $9000! on: January 29, 2020, 03:09:08 AM
Nice pretty small pump, we are now officially trading at $9,000+ and I am not anymore expecting the price would dump again after what happen recently.
Bitcoin is gonna be bullish this year, and this moment until weeks before the halving might be a good opportunity to invest for short term.

Welcome $9,000, NEXT $10,000 please.
I don't think we'll have a dump again this time. We'll be at $10k, next checkpoint. We will only have a possible dump again when we reach $10k. Always remember traders selling point and I agree this year isn't not a bull trap like last year. This year will be bullish because of halving. Now, i'm laughing those who predicted that upcoming halving won't make the price rise. We are still at January and the price is starting to rise already.
that might happen, but we have to see if bitcoin price is able to break above $9.5k we will see $10k, but if bitcoin price does not break $9.5k there is a chance it will drop below $9k again.

The possibility of yet another yo-yo between $9,000+ and $8,000++ remains a big possibility even if days from now BTC will be able to break through the $10,000 wall. However, this kind of movement we are seeing is kind of big indication that the rewards halving effect is gaining some strength because right now I don't see any other major influence for its rise. Hopefully, we can be able to see BTC reaching the $15K right before the halving can happen but maybe there is no big chance that it can be able to go beyond the previous ATH of $20K, though just like many of us here, I would be so happy to be pronounced wrong.

23  Economy / Economics / Re: Countries with banks to buy and sell cryptocurrencies on: January 29, 2020, 02:49:58 AM
Banks in Germany started to allow people to buy and sell cryptocurrencies this January 2020. I think other countries will do the same soon, Japan might be another country with such services. In the beginning, someone has to start something so others can follow suit. What are the other countries where anyone legally can buy/sell cryptos at commercial centralized banks?

Aside from Japan & Switzerland where cryptocurrency movement is really strong and expanding, I am expecting that South Korea can be the next one for this trend. Though we are generally wary about banks getting into cryptocurrency I am still considering this as a good news because this can help this industry spread to as many people as possible. We have to admit that people are still trusting banks (even if we might refuse this fact) and so banks can therefore be of big help to convince more people to invest with cryptocurrencies. Banks are for profits and generally they want to deal with anything where they can be making money and where there is clearly a good demand. They are seeing it with cryptocurrency. Let's see and watch developments on this thing and whether this trend can be catching up fire and spread to many other countries as well.
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How is Bitcoin living up to Satoshi's original vision? on: January 29, 2020, 01:49:26 AM
A lot would have to change to make Bitcoin a valid form of a digital payment system again and the community and devs maintaining Bitcoin seem to be wanting to go down the road of making it a store of value as opposed to a form of payment, not was Satoshi originally envisioned and not sustainable in my honest opinion.

I agree with this statement. Bitcoin has a lot of things to do and to catch up for it to become even at par with the modern ways of sending money anywhere. However, it does not mean that Bitcoin generally is getting to be worthless. While we have to accept that as of now it has had deviated from the most original vision of its founder, we have to understand the way things are and the challenges that it has gone through. Certainly, the journey of Bitcoin has not ended here and I would say that from the world perspective it has just even started. Bitcoin has become popular maybe for just one side of it and that is for speculative purposes and I see nothing really wrong with that because this is an asset albeit in digital form and therefore can be traded just like any other commodities. The main challenge right now is on the currency side and though things are slow I am still in a big faith that ultimately Bitcoin will be a big winner on this aspect, though I don't expect for it to become the prime or the foremost global currency as being the best alternative can be enough.

27  Economy / Economics / Re: New York City Stores Must Accept Cash Council Says on: January 28, 2020, 04:23:08 AM

It is quite ironic that there must be a law passed demanding that the consuming public be given the opportunity to pay in cash if they wanted to and not being imposed with only cashless options. Well, we are in the era where the world is turned upside so this is nothing special anymore to me. While I understand that cashless choices can even be more convenience to many shops and merchants, I am supporting this move to legally require businesses that open right for anybody to use cash. However, they also require them to accept Bitcoin though this can just be another "punch the moon" wish.
28  Economy / Speculation / Re: It's over $9000! on: January 28, 2020, 03:51:17 AM

I quite excited upon learning that today Bitcoin is again back at the $9,000 zone and though I am not so sure if this can mean we are finally trudging up to the $10,000 or just another trap, still this is making me convinced that just like an active volcano there must be something building up below the crater and maybe waiting for the right time to make the explosion. By next month, I am expecting that we should be witnessing Bitcoin getting past the $10,000 level and maybe marching towards the important $15,000 barrier.
29  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 2020 the year of Bitcoin technology getting accepted by governments on: January 28, 2020, 03:28:04 AM

This is just another pipe dream and I am willing to stake my small Bitcoin hoard that this will not be happening soon and not even 10 years from now. We always associate the blockchain technology with transparency (as if human nature can be changed by this technology, which I really doubt) but why would any government adopt something that can exposed it to the people and the media for that matter? It is just not rational, in the first place. Yes, there is a big possibility that governments (or a few of them) may fall in love with the blockchain technology but they are going to adopt it to what they really want and not let the technology be a hindrance to their goals and aims. Plus, without any measurable and clear demand from the people for the blockchain, politicians generally do not really care. Maybe it is time that we set our eyes and mindset that blockchain technology is not a magic potion that can amazingly transform gargantuan things and change the course of actions traditionally set for decades, though of course I believe that it has the potential to contribute making things better and can introduce some changes gradually (hopefully).
30  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-28] Your Bitcoin Should Be Seized to Pay for Climate Reparations on: January 28, 2020, 03:11:26 AM

I could have agreed with Eleanor Saitta if it is only Bitcoin that is consuming the power or electricity of all the myriad of industries we already have. Although I am personally pushing for maybe a better or improved Bitcoin mining technology that can consume lesser power, putting the big blame on  this industry is unwarranted and unacceptable. This is just actually one of the many ills manifesting with climate change activists, they think that they are the most righteous and the most authoritative on the whole matter and that we should be listening to all they are saying. I am not then wondering why there is also a growing number of people questioning these activists because some of their conclusions and recommended of actions can be misguided. I am not trying to defend Bitcoin mining here but we should look at things with a better perspective and not make something just another scapegoat and maybe even use as a launching pad for a hidden agenda just lurking at the background.
31  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Some info on Crypto taxes and capital gains on: January 28, 2020, 02:46:24 AM

I am not an expert on anything related to tax matters, and I am just an ordinary taxpayer myself so indeed it is good to be educated with the laws extant for us to follow and learn the many ways we can use to minimize our legal obligations to the government. Though, of course, it is always advisable to be consulting a professional on this matter, learning the rope on the matter can be helping a lot. Maybe I am just lucky that here in my country we are still at the liberty to declare our cryptocurrency income generating activities or not. In countries, where tax laws are implemented to the letter, one must always be careful and at the same time exhaust all legal means anyone has the privilege to use.
32  Economy / Economics / Re: Today is the first day of notorious Korea/Japan/China new year on: January 27, 2020, 09:58:27 AM
Today is the Chinese New Year and these are just words of encouragement and encouragement from their relatives. In Asia, Chinese culture has a wide influence on the surrounding countries so I understand this, I am also an Asian.
All these words want to motivate you to become a better person and they want you to be better in the new year. they have no negative thoughts, they are all willing to help each other. They still have fun and gambling. Grin

I am not of the Chinese ancestry though I am Asian too. Here in my county, the Chinese culture is quite a pervasive one since they are dominating the business scene, holding a great percentage of our country's capital and wealth. We generally admire the Chinese culture because they are very entrepreneurial, and they know what they want and are so willing to sacrifice a lot just to get there, many of the traits that we also want to have. I and my family are not so familiar with the Chinese New Year because we are not celebrating it, but we are always aware of this festival because they are always mentioned in the mainstream and social media every year. Sadly, we have this false idea that doing what Chinese are doing can also be bringing luck to our side when in fact we usually do not understand the traits and the sacrifice that Chinese businessmen/women are putting up to be successful.
33  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: New Body Of Control? on: January 27, 2020, 05:30:40 AM
If we were to go to a 100% bitcoin currency system. The banks and governments would loose control of whole financial system. The present governments would loose control. Therefore a new system would be needed to run each country. What do you think would be the new body of control? How could this work? What type of system would be put in place on this.? I don't think the people can control themselves as too many minds and ideas of where things can go in a direction. Therefore you still need a council or kingdom of control.

I admire people who have the dream of a better system where people are heard and where people are actually in control of their own destiny. But this kind of dream (as acted upon) resulted into many chaotic things in the past.  Why? The answer: HUMAN NATURE. In the past, when there was no government what came in was anarchy and with human nature unchanged and intact it can be all men for themselves. In fact, this is one of the many reasons why we have government in the first place. Unfortunately, Bitcoin is the agency that is tasked to change human nature.

Now, having said that, personally I do not ever believe and even dream that one day Bitcoin can be the global currency that is accepted by all people anywhere, anytime. That is such an impossible dream. And I am sure those outside of cryptocurrency can even be laughing at that idea. We could not even have one single country (even a small state) that is using Bitcoin as the primary currency successfully. Just having cryptocurrency or involving ourselves in cryptocurrency does not mean that the world and the many existing realities will be starting to change for the better.

Is Bitcoin really here to take on the global economic system, topple it and changed it for the better? Or is it just another pipe dream that can be good to discuss but has not even an iota of chance of coming true?

34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time for YouTube to vanish ... on: January 27, 2020, 05:00:49 AM
Centralized firms always have their terms and conditions that needs to be fulfilled for the flawless working. Here when certain guidelines weren't followed by the YouTube channels it leads to ban. For this it isn't possible to make YouTube get vanished out of its usage. Also the banning of contents associated with cryptocurrencies were also meant to be a mistake from YouTube which got rectified.

No matter how many of us in the world of cryptocurrency can be wishing (and even daydreaming) that YouTube be gone, it is projected to even grow much bigger in the next few years. YouTube has captured the imaginations of the millions and millions of people anywhere in the globe and there is actually no near competitor of this centralized platform. There had been many tries by decentralized platforms similar to YouTube but all of them failed to get the critical number of users and views. Well, that means that even people who are into cryptocurrency are not patronizing the alternatives. YouTube is here to stay, and we can happy or be sad about it.
35  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-01-23] Exchange hacks on the rise on: January 27, 2020, 04:20:37 AM

We have to accept the big fact that any exchange no matter how secured it can be is actually at risk everyday against hacking. Hackers are getting sophisticated all because they have the money, the resources, the talent and of course that strong drive to be successful in inundating exchanges due to the high prize tag involved. However, it is not also a remote possibility that some exchanges will be staging their own hacking to cover up problems they themselves created and of course to take away some money for themselves, and this is a big ground for a good regulation covering exchanges with the end-view of protecting the ordinary users. Exchanges must now start using an insurance system or have something like what Binance has. Personally, I don't think that any government will transfer this privilege to do business with cryptocurrency exchange exclusively to the banks, though it is quite possible that banks can be introducing a similar platform competing with what we already have around.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pet shop want to become a bitcoin exchange? on: January 27, 2020, 03:28:55 AM
I’ve got a pet shop and I wanted to accept bitcoin and alt coins then I was reading about becoming a bitcoin exchange ... is this possible? I understand it’s worth goes up and down.

Maybe you are referring to being a cryptocurrency exchanger just like the many money (usually forex) changers we have around, right? And in that case, you need to know the many laws regulating that kind of business. Accepting Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency for your business can be the easy part but with exchanging business that has many regulations in placed so you need to make sure you are doing things legally otherwise you can be encountering many problems with authorities. Anyway, good luck with your endeavor and I am wishing that you

40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin fraud victim,75, loses £11k in life savings! Secure your BTC just now! on: January 26, 2020, 03:44:27 AM
Guys, don’t think too much to spend 100-150 USD, buy a hardware wallet right now! You are not safe in any online wallet by 100 percent!

From the article: "Frances Foster, from Plymouth, lost £11,000 to a bogus Bitcoin company she saw promising high returns."

To be fair, even if she had the safest hardware wallet in the entire world, she would have still be scammed as she sent the money voluntarily. Heck, the article didn't even mention anything about her holding or sending in bitcoin. Probably read the article first?

You nailed it. Though I really sympathize with the victim, we have to understand that this is just a common fraud actually -- bogus investment company luring victims to deposit money into the account of the company hoping that the high ROI or profit can be flowing soon indefinitely but things are not as they are supposed to be because there is no investment firm in the first place.

"After first paying £250, she went on to make thousands of pounds in further payments."

Yeah, there is no mention of Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency in here so maybe the article is just assuming that the transactions took place using Bitcoin. And even if it did, this has nothing to do with Bitcoin at all in the same manner that if the victim is using the dollar I think nobody will ever call it as a Dollar Scam, would they?

The takeaway here is to be careful with whom and what you are dealing with online, offline or wherever you can be because we are living in a real world where scammers are just waiting to give us a big punch. And yeah, it does not matter if one is using a hardware wallet or not.

We should even call it as MSN Scam since they allowed the advertisement of this program on their site without doing a good verification if what LTC Markets is offering can be real and not just another fraud scheme.
