142  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Legend of Satoshi Nakamato, begins here.... 4.87 BTC BOUNTY!!! on: April 01, 2015, 02:32:58 PM
using Bitcoin 2.0 technology.

Oh, God, not this thing again. Bitcoin is at version 0.10. There's not even Bitcoin 1.0 planned, let alone 2.0. What you refer to as “Bitcoin 2.0” is actually unrelated technologies that use Bitcoin but ARE NOT BITCOIN.

I apologize, nor did I ever intend for my response to be an argument of semantics.  Sorry you feel this is unrelated, but I feel platforms built on top of the Bitcoin protocol are related.  If this must be discussed further please DM me. Cheers!  Smiley Smiley Tongue Tongue

Tick, tock...

Word on the street is the final step of the puzzle is to be released to the masses by Friday!

Current players have had access to it for awhile now and @coin_artist wants to make it public.

Goodluck!

The prize can be found here:
https://blockchain.info/address/1FLAMEN6rq2BqMnkUmsJBqCGWdwgVKcegd

Don't understand what are you talking about. That address was funded in February this year, game was played much earlier. Current players had no access to anything special, discussion on LetsTalkBitcoin forum is quiet for some time.

@itod

Apparently you didn't get the memo.... I see you're still stuck on level 1.

Here's where the other players are at....

The final image to solve the puzzle can be accessed at the end of the trail.  The 4.87 BTC is still up for grabs...

[EDIT]

The guys at LTB worked with the creators of the puzzle to create the scoreboard and helped implement the Token Controlled Access (TCA) in order to eliminate "sniping" and enable bonus automated puzzle payouts and tokens.  The creators of the puzzle never intended for this to be a competition between forums, they just wanted to create a new experience for the players using new Bitcoin related technology.

There is 4.87 BTC contained within the image shown below via private key.  Follow through this thread to help navigate yourself through the start to finish of this elaborate puzzle! There are a lot of cool crypto techniques used during this journey...

------------------------

I was just catching up on Coin_Artist's puzzle and came across a cryptic message with a link in the comments, the comment is 10 days old. Doesn't appear to be from Coin_Artist, the message is a bit puzzling.

Screenshot of the comment incase it gets deleted for some reason...

Who is WR?

EDIT:
It appears to be another Coin_Artist masterpiece...

146  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Huge BTC price difference between MtGox and BTC-E + Bitstamp on: February 27, 2014, 06:01:51 AM
Was this a potential reason why Mt.gox was insolvent, incentivizing users to hold bitcoins at their exchange due to a purposeful inflated price difference?

148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What if Bitcoin could make the internet publicly free for everyone? on: February 07, 2014, 12:17:07 AM
What if a layer built on top of the blockchain allowed users to mine in pools of wifi networks?

Users could download an app on their smartphone and move seamlessly through a group of wifi networks.
Working co-operatively and independently of the bitcoin network.

  • Making it economically beneficial for everyone to share the use of each others wifi networks.
  • Wifi network operators could receive pool fees like traditional mining networks.
  • Each wifi network would serve as a mining pool, the more users in a pool the higher probability of mining a block.
  • Hashing rates could be determined by bandwidth usage, less bandwidth usage higher hashing rate.
  • Users could purchase upgrades to hashing rates on the network, by contributing funds back into the reward pool.

This may possibly need to be a hybrid combination of a proof-of-stake and proof-of-work.

I also want to point out how important internet usage is for the bitcoin network, providing more access freely for Bitcoin users will greatly increase its probability of adoption.

Thoughts?

150  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Advice on proposing crypto's as an investment opportunity to my bosses. on: February 01, 2014, 08:46:19 AM
Bitcoin first! You'll complicate things and push buyers away by having too many options.

Pitch points:

Bitcoin isn't just money, it's the internet of money. Literally.

Scarcity ratio: 21million Bitcoin to 7billion people.

Cryptocurrencies will have forever changed money.

Saying Bitcoin is just a currency is like saying the internet is just for email.

Bitcoins is still in its prenatal state.

Buying into Bitcoin right now is like buying stock into Apple in the mid 80's. Except the internet exists now.

Bitcoin could completely eliminate the need for the financial sector.

Last year at this time a $15 investment would be worth nearly $950 on Mt.gox today (hold in laughter)

Added it to the poll...  Vicecoin is just another coin named after a person though...

What if one satoshi was one "vice"?

155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: EBay considering accepting bitcoin as payment on: January 24, 2014, 03:11:48 AM
It seems like the other alt coins are eating up some of the growth from Bitcoin. I'm not sure why all this press isn't a catalyst for a price increase.
156  Economy / Service Discussion / Is there a legitament Bitcoin lottery? on: January 24, 2014, 03:04:24 AM
We buy lotto tickets for a couple bucks to gamble at a huge price.  Has any brought this idea to Bitcoin?  Yes, I understand satoshi dice is like this, but I have yet to hear of large value lottery established.
157  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New Mining Rig - help me out here on: January 24, 2014, 02:53:12 AM
If you want to mine Bitcoin I would look at Butterflylabs.  The ASIC miners are magnitudes faster than GPUs.

GPU mining is still used for scrypt hashing which is how LTC and several other altcoins are created.
