I’m very excited to be participating again at the annual bitcoin pizza contest! This year I took inspiration from a Lego I recently built, van Gogh’s The Starry Night:

While building, I really liked the dark background and the fact that it wasn’t just plain but instead it had many protruding elements. That’s where I started about making a pizza similar to a paint, it had to be different, dark, and with toppings that would give it some depth and tridimensionality. And since this year there is a lot of enthusiasm, what could be better than a bitcoin rocket going to the moon?

I had to do a little research in order to find the ingredients with the right color but they also had to go well together, I didn’t want to make a pizza aesthetically pleasant but with a bunch of random flavors that make no sense together.

Let’s start with the preparation that, just like a Lego set, it actually required to "assemble" some food in advance, these are the "pieces":

Prosciutto to make the rocket, then pepperoni for the details:

Cheddar for the BTCs and the stars. I’m not a big fan of this cheese but it’s great for decorating, easy to cut since I did it by hand using a knife (no moulds), and it has a nice bitcoiny color:

Mozzarella pearls cut in half to recreate the white smoke effect (I didn’t take a detailed photo but you can see them in the first picture).

Then we have the pizza base: instead of the classic tomatoes or cheeses I chose to go for a more sophisticated and gourmet path using a black truffle sauce, this would be the representation of background which, in this case, it’s supposed to be the sky/space:

After partially cooking the pizza I carefully proceed placing the prosciutto rocket and the mozzarella pearls and, after a couple of minutes, I added also the stars and the BTCs, including an extra pepperoni on the rocket with another BTC.

Once the pizza was properly cooked it was time for the final touch: some aubergine spread with sweet red peppers gently painted with a food brush to add more detail at the launch phase simulating the combustion reaction of rocket fuel.

This is the final result:

More pictures:

Probably the most fascinating part of making this pizza, for me, it’s been how the whole idea began, simply because of a Lego set so, in a way, I felt like I was a 5 year old kid again.

For those wondering why the paper shows the 27 of May as date and I posted on the last day, the reason is that I’ve been traveling a lot these days and I didn’t have the time to choose the images (I took like 30 pictures) and prepare the post with the detailed explanation.

Today I just visited meta board and saw this topic and some old question in my mind araise once again that-
We know that forum has total 109 merit sources and as this info total Smerit generation of up to 32990  in a month. So questions is-
-Are all merit sources have same smerit generation?
-Another question is once a merit source can be a lifetime merit source?  Or is it also pick and drop system like DT¹
    member election?

All merit sources don't have equal smerits allocation. Technically I think the amount of smerits different merit sources get from their refill is quite fixed and the volume of smerits they get is actually fixed based on some predetermined factors like the allocation Theymos made for for each source depending on how much smerits they spend, and  how many boards they visit and distribute merits to. I think merit circulation is also relative to how much smerits sources get during each refill because if merit sources are giving out excess merits the merit system will get messed up so will ranking.

I think a merit source remains one forever except they choose to stop being one of which I have never come across since my time on the forum.

We will have to accept the inevitable, one day it will not be stopped that is the direction technology is taking us. Eventually AI will be utilised to a level (or standard) where detection will be extremely difficult or near impossible. Even those AI posts that will end up getting flagged will have their authors contesting them protesting innocence.

Well, that means the only thing left for us is to continue detecting and reporting shitposting. As long as the forum keeps those rules in place and the mods are on the ball with reported stuff, we can definitely put up a good fight against AI-generated junk.  Speaking of which, it might be a good idea for mods to use sig-ban and temp-ban penalties more often for repeat offenders.

With all this talk of trying to prevent IA in the forum, how will it be prevented when it is indistinguishable from human writing?
If everyone had the same foresight as the smart minds among us do, they'd see this coming already before now...
If my memories serves me right, then I'd say I made a comment on the wild escalation and adaptation of AIs in a little time to come. Before the time, their existence was marked by a certain group of lazy minds that'd barely read a love novel, talk more of studying about "creative thinking"
Look what we've got today... A great way to double up the effort and stress any regular AI detector passes through.

Edit:
Why it's in Meta?
Ofcourse, it doesn't fit anywhere else my friend.
Hopefully someday this new problem created by AI will be resolved.
Sadly, there are no resolutions to this.

Mods can do more than just delete reported posts.  They can also edit stuff to take out too many quotes, which takes more effort but its their job.
Yes they can and as you pointed out, it takes more effort. They'll spend a lot of time doing that in a thread with numerous quote walls. I've also noticed mods refrain from editing posts as much as they can.

[Overall the mods need to put in the work to enforce rules, even if it takes longer.  Repeated rule-breaking should lead to real consequences, not just deleting posts. The users being lazy isnt a good reason to let them get away with it.
There is a rule on repeated spamming leading to a temporary ban and if continued, to a permanent ban eventually. I don't think that has been enforced during my time on the forum. A little more stringency may be needed, without going overboard of course.

I am not sure what his intentions are but he has been posting goodbye messages making it clear he was leaving the forum but to my utter surprise he posted again. He claimed he came out of exile to correct something that Vod wrote but it was seemed to be because he could not keep away. Maybe he expected members were going to implore him to stay but that obviously did not take place.

So, this guy is using an alt account and I think it is relevant un unlock the thread and quote this:

Wait!!! Don't go back into isolation just yet! I'd really appreciate if you can explain what I asked here, on your own thread, about luck and all.

List of stupid users.

Likewise, if my aim was primarily money, you would never hear from me again.

My primary goal, is to help you users.

So I know when there is a group of people ruining something good for themselves.

I am just ensuring you users, do not ruin your lives gambling.

I am putting my pride to the side to help you users, essentially.

Take it as an apology from me, and a token of my appreciation.

Mwah.

You all can agree with me that since December 2023, the activity/activeness of forum members here have been declining due to one of these factors;

⏺️lack of quality threads more especially those relating to Bitcoin discussions.

⏺️Lack of Reliable and Reputable signature campaigns

⏺️The ban that was placed on some signature campaign companies in the forum and some others.

Now, what has been keeping the forum moving is the activeness of some merit sources that have been distributing merits to quality posts in recent times
-snip-
Frankly, some of your points are not true and even conflicting, because if there are no quality threads why are merit sources meriting what you called quality posts which in most cases are new threads created?

I think that was the more reason why I said this below, so it will be good to read the whole content of a post before you pass judgement

Note: The reason for creating the merit system was to stand as a prerequisite that will affirm a quality post therefore, if we are seeing more merit circulation in the forum it means that quality posts are being made gradually

I’m surprised to see this username on the list, Ratimov/Symmetrick is no longer active on the forum and I don’t think the account is still a merit source which gives a open spot for Theymos to replace with a new merit source. There’s a long list of merit sources applications on Meta waiting to be approved, I don’t think a merit source application has been approved since I joined the forum.
oh am not aware of this but don't you think he will come back to the forum in the future? Even when he is inactive, his contribution to the forum still exist except he committed a crime here or broke forum rules that led to his inactivity then it can reverse his positive contributions.
Even if he committed a crime or scammed, it will not erase his positive contributions in the forum. The worse scenario would be that he will have a couple of negative tags to add to the already positive feedback or most of the positive feedbacks reversed.

But in the case of Symmetric, he on his own was deleting his positive contributions to the forum. Deleting important threads and comments in the forum. That act angered so many established forum users. However, his stats will still be in the forum for a long time.
