I have a Corsair TX850 and am wondering if anyone knows if it's possible for it to power 2 5970s without issues. Or is a higher power PSU necessary for this pair of GPUs? Opinions are welcome, too.

850 is plenty for 2x 5970s.

yes, see my thread

my cougar 700w was enough with about 90w spare at the wall, So providing you got good amps on your rail (or rails and balance them) the corsair should be easy for them.

Your Corsair TX850 looks to be a single rail with 70A on 12V, so you're good.

Thanks, guys! It's nice to know these are considerations others have worked out before and I'm grateful to draft off your wisdom and experience.
