First of all, know I am not going to make anything. I am just playing around.

I have read and searched and searched and read and cannot find anything on mining with the Antminer under Linux that is not vague - install this and type this substituting your info here - without explaining what or why.

I am wanting to try solo mining and I want to be able to do pool mining if desired. Can someone hold my hand here?

.... on a side note ...
Why do I have to enter every post here twice? When I first come to this site and try to post something, it tells me 'Nope.. You cannot post more than once every 90 seconds (or something like that)" ... but that always happens on my FIRST post and then I have to retype everything! grrrrr.....

pretty easy to find some guide with google

here some(for pools)

http://www.reddit.com/r/BitcoinMining/comments/1w8lpm/antminer_u1_how_to_setup_guide/
https://bitcoin.co.th/how-to-use-antminer-u1/
http://altoidnerd.com/2014/01/27/antminer-usb-block-erupter-miner-set-up-guide-in-windows-and-ubuntu/

for solo just make a config where there is your wallet.dat(don't touch it, just add a config file) and inside it put

rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=password
rpcalloip=127.0.0.1
rpcport=8333
server=1

then in the command line, -o 127.0.0.1:8333 -u user -p password
