How to use old wallet.dat in core ver 10

I had Bitcoin cor version 9.x.x since upgrading to version 10 it will not use my previous wallet.dat just creates a new one and names my old one old?

I just really want to restore previous receive address.

Any help appreciated and apologies if this is a dumb question can't seem to find the answer.

I had no problem updating from 0.9.x to 0.10.0, the wallet.dat is still the same.

Do the log files reveal anything that might give a hint on why this happens?

Thanks I have cracked it

uninstalled and used an older wallet.dat and all is working fine must have been corrupt dat file.
