You shouldn't add default trust and just add names of the people you trust to the trust list. most of the time, the trust is not an accurate representation of the person's reputation. Always look at the comments and the reference before making careful decisions.

The default trust is a good way to get a sense of what's going on. It's probably the most widely accepted trust list whether that was the initial goal or not.

I've personally not found a reason to change my trust depth or move away from default trust. I suppose if I start to miss out on people who are running scams I will consider adding to it!

Well, trust abuse is common in the trust list. If you are getting started, default trust is a good way to indentify trusted people but as you progress, you should start to edit your trust list or prune the trust list.

I think default trust is a major problem, so I set mine to zero and have a custom trust list of people I trust. While I think the trust system is good in theory, in practice it has major issues. There is always a couple of discussions going on over in the META section about it.

I've never used it. I really don't even know how it works exactly. I should probably catch up and try it out asap.

I have the default one so it's 2, but after reading this topic i'm thinking about changing it to 1. Will it be more safe and perharps...benefical for me?

I currently have trust depth 4 because it gives me a higher trust rating. At depth 4 it shows 4: -0 / +6(6) if I set it to depth 2 it shows 0: -0 / +0(0).
Not sure why it displays a 0 score when I use depth 2 while I have completed plenty of trades.

I have seen many people misusing this feature and would like to advice the Admins and Mods to give some authority to Default Trust people to moderate all the users and their trust score and check whether they try to misuse it, as I saw so many people turned scammers after getting much Green Trust added to their profile...

Moderation of trust would only make it more complicate IMHO. What if the trust moderator get a negative trust? Wouldn't it be removed by him/her? There will be problems like this. Current system is better and should stay as it is except adding new needed features.

Modified Custom Level 2 Trust set on my end.
Just added a handful of members I've dealt with, and whole heartedly trust.

I guess because none of the people who have left a feedback in your profile are on depths 1 or 2

It does not matter what it shows you, it matters what others see. Six or even four is a very deep trust list, like trusting friends of friends of friends of friends. HERE is a good discussion of the problems with default trust. This thread was started by theymos himself to try and figure out what to replace default trust with. Good luck and welcome!

0 depth is the best solution. Build your own trust list.
