Medium-term I predict a downward correctio.  Not sure about short-term, but I think it is likely that the BTC/$ exchange rate is 9-something in two weeks from now.

Since pirate is supposed to pay out in next few days, there are two options :
1, he pays - his investors cash out, driving the price down
2, he doesnt pay - general bitcoin FUD + pirate selling his assets drive the price down

Thus, I'm bearish. I'm trying to sell my btcs now, but the price is too low for my taste. I hope it goes up until the weekend dip kicks in.

What this have to do with btc price?

Less BTC in the hands of speculators.

For instance. This past weekend https://www.cavirtex.com/ exchange had low volume at 9.9 to 10 range. That is if you wanted to pick up 200 btc it would take you a bit of time and don't forget the gamble of price fluctuations until you made your purchase.

However had you kept your BTC and just use it to purchase hardware then you would not be making any volume movements on the exchanges.

More BTC being spent for goods gives more support to use BTC for international transactions.

this only works if the seller would also keep the btc and spend them on other goods, but IMO most sellers convert them back to fiat instantly, so there is a movement on the exchanges causes by your purchase

haven't you been paying attention? when there's a hack price goes up! not down....

bitfloor should have taken the necessary steps to ensure their cold storage was indeed cold!

all this hack is going to do is make people need to buy coins again.

From what I have observed it accelerates a trend. During bitcoinica we were up, so we went up faster.
Now we are down and gonna go down faster, otherwise the whole mybitcoin 31.9 bubblepop wouldn't make sense.

back in the day Cool, investors we're scared for their own coins when they heard people were being hacked left and right
now a days, people understand wtf is going on, and they have their coins on paper or a usb or somthing offline.
when they hear about people bitcoins being hacked they feel sorry, yes, but not scared.
you wont see any "omg i might be hacked next" panic selling.
