"Bernanke contends that it is possible to transact in a competing currency like Yen, or pesos or bitcoin. "

I don't think Bernanke ever mentioned Bitcoin specifically.

This is great, I actually prefer a few slightly positive brief mentions before they publish something directly dealing Bitcoin.

My personality type: INTJ - please forgive my weaknesses (Not naturally in tune with others feelings; may be insensitive at times, tend to respond to conflict with logic and reason, tend to believe I'm always right)

I don't think Bernanke ever mentioned Bitcoin specifically.

If Bernanke ever publicly pronounces the world "bitcoin", I'd like to know.  It would be kind of an historic moment.

Same for Obama.  But it's not so sure he'll be reelected anyway, so it does not matter much.

It's like trying to explain a car engine to someone that's only heard of a car but never seen one. People didn't get smtp or http when it first came to the attention of the masses. They still took over.

Bitcoin's future is in the continued crumbling of the conventional tools of exchange, a prospect I look forward to a little more than I should.

They will come here, in the future, crying that "omg, early adopters have an unfair advantage, they bought bitcoin when they were cheaper and now are rich, while i was busy on the zerohedge website trolling and insulting ppl who use bitcoin. But now i too want to be rich, bawwhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

Nice comment.

But yeah, then maybe we all do ... but I also wonder if the people who were doing the same thing inside the Soviet Union feel bad now about cheering on (facilitating even?)  the demise of their failing institutions?

I doubt it. One should never feel badly about being correct. : )
