(I'm posting it in the Newbies section because I have just registered here to post this question so I can't post anywhere else. Maybe this question belongs to some other section like Marketplace or Bitcoin Discussion - in that case please feel free to move it where appropriate. Thanks.)

When I try to log into the Intersango bitcoin exchange on https://intersango.com/ I get this message:

Code:
Due to unforeseen circumstances the systems administrator will not be available for three days.

As a precaution Intersango will be inaccessible until Monday Feb 25th.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

- Team Intersango

This is what I get on February 25, 2013.

All other addresses like https://intersango.com/howto/ are "404 - Not Found".

Anyone knows what's happening? They don't answer emails and I can't access my bitcoins that I have there! Sad

It is pretty scary. Anyone knows what's going on? I have tried to find anything about this outage online but there is absolutely no information anywhere about it except that message on the main page which could easily be forged if the website was hacked or something shady was going on. I am really scared as hell because I have a lot of bitcoins there.

Please someone who uses Intersango answer if you can log in, if the bitcoins are safe and how can I contact support. Has anyone talked to them?

Thank you for every piece of information that you can provide....

This is the new message for today:

Quote
Maintenance is ongoing.

We apologize for the delay in return of service.

- Team Intersango

This looks not good, because they do not mention a new time frame.

I also have a lot of coins and Euro on this exchange.

This is super scary because this is exactly how it would look like if the owners of Intersango had run with the money. I seriously hope that they are just being completely irresponsible and unprofessional instead of a scam.

Does anyone know who can be contacted to get some information about the status of the Intersango exchange?

Googling https://www.google.com/search?q=intersango+contact I found https://intersango.com/contact.php but it is "404 - Not Found". In the Google result of that page there is this snippet: "Contact. Intersango cares greatly about our support and service. We are always happy to answer any questions. Please feel free to email us anytime. We will ..." but since that page is "404 - Not Found" like https://intersango.com/faq.php and other pages I don't know what is the email address of someone who is "always happy to answer any questions".

I have written an email to Patrick Strateman address that is listed in the WHOIS of the intersango.com domain - http://whois.net/whois/intersango.com - but I got no reply. Has anyone written an email and got a reply?

There is also a phone number listed there. Has anyone tried to call this number?

Has anyone got any email from Intersango like every customer should have in a situation like this?

Does anyone know anything at all that would be helpful to the Intersango customers if the Intersango company itself doesn't care to inform them about this?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Intersango seems to be up again and no funds seems to be lost. What a relief...

I really hope that next time customers will be kept informed in situations like this.

And don't get me wrong, if the exchange is closed because for some reason there is no one to make sure that everything is safe then of course it is better than having the website hacked while the administrator is away. But please don't make it look like it was hacked or like you run away with the bitcoins if you don't want some of us to get a heart attack.

What would you recommend instead?

And could you explain briefly what you mean by the Bitcoinica fiasco and how it relates to Intersango? Thanks.

personally i love bitcoin-central.net

i wont ever use intersango because of bitcoinica again.
 - they where part of the reason why bitconica was hacked multiple times
 - they are VERY rude and demand "respect" while doing nothing
 - thay gave up on distributing OUR (the customers money) which was left after the hacks because we werent nice enough to them after their fuckups

there is also a legal case because of bitcoinica but i dont know about its process. i just know that if intersango would have their job right we already have (partly) our bitcoinca money back - so we are still waiting.

The people behind Intersango are the people behind Bitcoinica, which facilitated one of the biggest thefts in Bitcoin history. The operators of Bitcoinica/Intersango are currently facing a lawsuit because of that.

Well it came back online and I've withdrawn all my funds from Intersango, I don't trust them, especially after the bitcoinica fiasco in which my bitcoins were stolen.

Attention, scam gang Intersango (Donald Norman, Amir Taaki, Patrick Strateman)Do not pay off and change into support tickets later the money and Bitcoin totals.A shame for what Bitcoin represents. Who has his BTC to Intersango that they will never see again.A shame for what Bitcoin represents.
