BitChan is an anonymous Bitcoin and cryptocurrency discussion board/bulletin board system (BBS).

BitChan is similar to imageboards such as 4chan in that there is no registration required to post and anonymity is encouraged but unlike imageboards, the emphasis is on posting text rather than images. Unlike traditional discussion boards where users must register an account and set up a profile before making posts, anyone can post on BitChan at anytime instantly. This means that users can no longer be judged by their username and instead can only be judged by the content of their message.

If you're interested in the idea, feel free to start your own topic or reply to an existing one. There aren't that many topics to reply to right now since the site is still very new but hopefully that will change in the coming weeks and months. Smiley

I'll try to make it there as often as I could.

You do know that anything anonymous tends to bring out the crazies right?  Hope you are prepared for some truly vial stuff in the coming months.

I've added a faucet to the site. It's still under development and needs some tweaking but it's functional:

http://faucet.bitchan.org/

There will be an official launch in the next few days and a signature campaign for the main site is in the works. Hopefully this should drive some more traffic since there haven't been many new posts made lately.

Remember: Registration is not required to contribute! So feel free to post away!

Thanks for the feedback!

I'm not too worried about the crazies. Even the craziest posts can sometimes lead to intelligent discussions. Smiley

I would recommend that you add a message to this thread daily or at least every other day until your site gains traction.

The forum, if I am getting this one right, is too simple and I would recommend you to make it a bit more good-looking... Smiley
BTW, this is a great concept to have a faucet internally attached to the forum address itself... Wink

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not sure if I can update this thread daily since things are still pretty quiet but weekly or twice weekly updates should be possible.

Yeah, it's meant to be very simple. Smiley

Think of it as 4chan but without the images vs. more complex boards such as this one. The emphasis is on Bitcoin and cryptocurrency-related topics but really, pretty much anything goes.

I know one person that simply types the word "update" everyday and that serves as the update for this thread.

If you had updated this thread more I would have contributed more content to the site before now.

I'll contribute additional content every day if you update this thread daily.  So now you have a legitimate reason to update the thread daily because the day before you got new content to talk about.

Following Armis's suggestion, here's an update:

Currently, the faucet is set at the default setting which is quite low (90% chance of 100 satoshis and 10% chance of 500 satoshis per 3 hours). I'm considering changing the faucet payouts to match the first two or three tiers of Freebitco.in's in order to stay competitive:

So basically that's a 99% chance of 800 satoshis, 0.9% chance of 8,000 satoshis, and 0.1% chance of 80,000 satoshis per hour. It should be pretty interesting to see if this actually works or if the wallet will become depleted too quickly.

Sound like a good idea. You created MiniBBS or you modified MiniBBS? It sound like a neat and good forum software.

So sad! This profile does not appear as the #1 result (on anonymous) Google searches anymore.

Time to be active on the crypto forums again? Proud to be one of the few Legendary members of the Sparkie Red Dot!

Gonna put this on my resume if I ever join a cryptocurrency/blockchain industry!

I like the decentralization of Bitcoin-related forums Smiley Just not sure how many people will use it as time progress. Most will come back here I'd say.

Huh? Decentralization? It's not a decentralized forums. It is just a open and anonymous forums that anyone can join and post.

Clearly I misread the OP this morning. I assumed BitChan was the forum name (decentralized as in multiple forums popping up), not the board system itself Smiley

Faucet will be officially announced soon. Just one or two days left till launch...

Sound like a good idea. You created MiniBBS or you modified MiniBBS? It sound like a neat and good forum software.

There aren't that many good examples of this sort of software nowadays since most of them (e.g. TinyBBS and ATBBS) haven't been updated in a while. MiniBBS is probably one of the better ones since its codebase is still fairly recent which is why I chose it over the alternatives.

I like the decentralization of Bitcoin-related forums Smiley Just not sure how many people will use it as time progress. Most will come back here I'd say.

There is a lower barrier to participation vs. traditional forums since no account creation step is required.

It is the forum name. MiniBBS is the board software. Kind of like how Bitcointalk is the forum name for this site and Simple Machines is the forum software which the site uses.

I added a new topic, and a new reply to an existing topic.

Everyday I see this thread updated I will add content to bitchan

Thanks!

Interesting service by the way. A crowdfunding platform for cryptos sounds like a good idea.

Official announcement thread for the faucet has just been posted:

http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1058942

Rates for the faucet are based on Freebitco.in. They are either 800, 8,000, or 80,000 satoshis per hour.
