The morning busts in Arkansas, Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi are part of a 15-month operation by the DEA drug diversion unit. The sources said 1,000 agents and officers conducted the raids.

A federal law enforcement source told NBC News that "Operation Pilluted" is the "single largest pharmaceutical operation in DEA history." It is focused on the illegal sale and distribution of pain killers, including oxycodone and hydrocodone...

All these states are in the South.  The feds are just upset they weren't informed about the operations and getting their cuts.  Wink

The fight against opiates is about to get far more complicated. In the future you will not need a connection in Afghanistan or at a pharmaceutical plant, you will be able to make it t home.  Shocked

People should be able to take this stuff if they want. However, my guess this has something to do w/ people on govt services misusing the privileges and overstating their medical condition to get sympathetic physicians and surgeons to give them what they want/need and keep doing so. I'm not saying that people don't tend to abuse stuff like this but this kind of medication is very important for those who truly have pain issues.
