Hello,

we (gox-self-help) have created a guide:

https://wiki.olivere.de/goxwiki.ro/HereWeGo.html

If you are not already a Kraken member we prefer to filing your bankruptcy claim directly via ClaimMtGox:

https://wiki.olivere.de/goxwiki.ro/ClaimMtGox.html

There are also some hints for filling an offline claim:

https://wiki.olivere.de/goxwiki.ro/OfflineClaim.html

Claims over Kraken are not handled yet. If you like to describe the process of claiming via Kraken, please subscribe to the list and wiki:

https://list.olivere.de/mailman/listinfo/gox-self-help
https://wiki.olivere.de/goxwiki

If you have any problems, please contact:

gox-self-help-owner {at} list.olivere.de
or
wiki-admin {at} olivere.de

Regards
Oliver

P.S.: Don't miss the deadline until May 29, 2015 (Japan time)!

EDIT: Maybe a Mod can make this topic sticky until the 29th of May.

Already submitted mine via kraken, i suggest everyone who can goes via them for a smooth process. Also it is our best chance for payout in bitcoins.

What IMHO currently militates against Kraken:

1. The Trustee pushes all risks associated with Kraken to the creditor.
2. One can still decide to switch to Kraken later. See Q22 of the FAQ:
https://www.mtgox.com/img/pdf/201504_faq_en.pdf

Quote from: FAQ
Q22: If I become a Kraken user after filing an Exchange-Related Bankruptcy Claim via the System,
are there any benefits to becoming a Kraken user with regard to MTGOX’s bankruptcy proceedings?
A: Yes (in this case, the bankruptcy trustee will announce by when you will need to become aontroversy
Kraken user in the future).

Even if we vote for it, nobody knows if it will be ever possible to receive a distribution in Bitcoin. And if, we can become Kraken users when the Trustee make a corresponding announcement.

So what are ultimately the benefits with Kraken, if you have no account on Kraken and no intention of doing anything else with Kraken?

You have to register with Kraken what could be difficult or protracted under certain circumstances. You bear the risk if Kraken should get into trouble (Perish the thought!).
You bear the risk if there are problems between Kraken and the Trustee. You bear the risk if there are problems between you and Kraken.

But you also have risks not going with Kraken and trusting the folks over @ mtgox to do a good job.  Its a strength in numbers philosophy & the best chance of getting bitcoin as a payout is if a high % of users sign up @ Kraken and request that.

What are my additional risks, if I do not initialise the claim with Kraken? Kraken is just a third party. They depend fully on the Trustee.
Also not everyone is able to do an online claim at all. Offline claims only possible directly with the Trustee.

I do not know the process via Kraken. But if you file your claim via Gox there is a survey. There you can tick whether you prefer Bitcoins or FIAT.
This also works for people who make there claims offline. I would strongly guess that the result of this survey is crucial for the decision whether
or not there will be a distribution in Bitcoin.

I do not think that people who submit their claims via Kraken will make it worse. Nevertheless, until further notice I recommend to use the Trustees System directly without Kraken.
For claiming offline there is anyway no other possibility.

By the way: We have no description for ClaimKraken until now:

https://wiki.olivere.de/goxwiki.ro/ClaimKraken.html

Would be nice to have a short description like we have written for the MtGox online and offline method.  Smiley

I put this together as I went through the Kraken process:

1) After reading all of the links provided below the dotted line and Kraken's terms & conditions, I registered with Kraken and submitted verification through tier 2.

2) Then I clicked the “MtGox Claim” tab in my account.

Clicking the Start Claim Process button took me back to the Claims Mtgox site: https://claims.mtgox.com/assets/index.html#/

3) I logged in and then submitted the temporary passcode e-mailed to my Mtgox e-mail when resetting the password and establishing security questions.

4) Next, I agreed to some terms regarding using Kraken to file my claim.

5) Then I went back to my Kraken account and clicked the "MtGox Claim" tab and the Start Claim Process button again.  This time, it gives me a form to submit all my information for the claim process within the Kraken website.

I printed a copy for my records of what I filled out, and I'm all set with a claim number waiting for the trustee to evaluate the claims and consider payment later this year.

I received several emails from the trustee's system when logging in and submitting my claim through Kraken's website.

It took me about an hour or two to fill out the stuff and register with Kraken after I spent about 8-10 hours reading all the FAQs and terms and conditions.

And did it took you back again to the Mtgox site and the MtGox Form?

Or does Kraken has its own form? You wrote "within the Kraken website". What this means? Sorry for stupid questions.

Regardless of whether you are claiming through Kraken or the MtGox claims site, don't forget that the trustee has said they will accept claims up until May 29th Japan time. This is mentioned in the OP, but seems worth repeating.

Step 4 takes you to the MtGox site where you say you're going to file using Kraken which takes you back to the Kraken site.

Kraken has their own form through the Kraken website.

It is my understanding that both sites are writing information to the same database, so it shouldn't really matter.

Also, one of the FAQs mentions you can link Kraken later, but Kraken made it pretty easy to use their forum with little extra info to fill in and submit through their website when logged into your account.

Yep, go ahead and share these steps; it's why I posted them here.  Just don't have time to figure out your wiki.  Hope this helps though.  I already sent it to my newsletter distribution list.

Sounds like most people are having trouble accessing the Trustee's site yesterday and today.

Think they will extend the use of the online system, or should people be filing using the offline method?

Should we e-mail the trustee asking this?

(I filed last week to avoid this, but most of my friends & family were not as forward thinking)

I did a last check yesterday without problems. But there are definitely people having problems.

Think they will extend the use of the online system,

There are statements from the Kraken support which point in this direction. But I would not count on it blindly.
All depends on the trustee and the court.

or should people be filing using the offline method?

It's maybe to late but better than doing nothing.

Should we e-mail the trustee asking this?

In the case of problems it looks like as if it's the best to turn over to Kraken, if you have not already done so.
Kraken has a functioning support. From the trustee I have never received a direct response.

But it's certainly not a mistake to contact him:

http://www.noandt.com/data/lawyer/index/id/2957/

I'm sure they will take note of but maybe not answer.

Is it 11:00 AM Thursday, in EST?   So in 2 hours?

Kraken will be accepting applications past the May 29th (Japan time) deadline and we do expect the trustee/court to be flexible about accepting late claims. I think you can trust that a slightly late claim will be accepted, but shouldn't count on the idea that you can submit it weeks late and still have it accepted. So no need to panic about the exact deadline or resort to an offline claim, but get your claim submitted as soon as possible to be safe.

Yes. I see still positiv feedback. So, to all who don't have claimed yet: Hurry up!

Here's a slightly more humorous guide:

Wink

But if someone has problems, he should make definitely an offline claim:
