No when SD first started I heard the theory that it was so popular because it is used as a mixing service right here on this forum. This author is clearly doing the research.
After all, if you are using a mixing svc you obviously have something to hide, but if you are using SD you are just gambling... but actually IDK whether SD actually mixes... if they don't, they ought to start doing so & maybe get more customers.

Mixing would ruin the point of satoshi dice payouts etc being provable They don't mix at all, when a bet wins it's paid to the sending address.

IDK whether SD actually mixes... if they don't, they ought to start doing so & maybe get more customers. It can change the makeup of a wallet where there is much less taint in the coins held. It does leave a direct trace to every wager, and thus for the purpose of mixing fails miserably. This topic is discussed here: - http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=79079.0

SD is not a mixing service ... if it is, it is a pretty terrible one. They send you back coins to the same address they were spent from. When you spend a coin you have to broadcast across the network that you know the public key that produces the public hash (the bitcoin public address) ... so are probably the owner of those coins ... pretty stupid way to make your coins untraceable.
American Banker seems a little hysterical and at sea with the Bitcoin ... someone is stealing their lunch?
