No Cash, No Problem: ‘Dope’ Film First To Accept Bitcoin For Ticketsf you’re planning on catching the new teen comedy flick Dope this Friday (June 19), you might not need your wallet, but, definitely your phone.
The movie’s distributor Open Road Films will allow moviegoers to buy tickets with Bitcoin, a digital currency exchanged through mobile apps or computers. Similar to credit card purchases, buyers can go online at MovieTickets.com to purchase their tickets from more than 900 U.S. theaters.
The coming-of-age film, which follows New York teens that exchange drugs for Bitcoins, adds a personal touch for consumers anxious for their front-row seats to the flick.
