This board is, in the words of Admiral Ackbar, a trap.

Trust me, once you get out of here it is just from solitary confinement to general population.

This forum has the most heavy handed and arbitrary moderation I have personally ever experienced.

This is not some pseudoeconomic post-modern Libertarian cult, it's an un-led, crowd-sourced mega startup organized around mutual self-interest where problems, whether of the theoretical or purely practical variety, are treated as temporary and, ultimately, solvable.
Censorship of e-gold was easy. Censorship of Bitcoin will be… entertaining.

You serious? The kind of crap flinging and arguments I see here would not be tolerated on all the other forums I frequent. This forum is on the loose end moderation wise.

Would be nice to have publicly elected moderators, instead of moderators appointed by the site owner.

Perhaps my experience of the internet is limited.  Yes, I have been on forums where the banhammer is wielded freely, but I have never seen entire threads thrown down the Orwellian memory hole on a whim.

There are going to be a whole lot of people losing their freedom very soon.( Pirateat40, Nefario, Dank, etc)

I saw a 10000+ post thread, including notifications of member deaths, just because it was slowing the server down on another forum.

Not sure this is a good solution either.... have you seen some of the people out there in the general population?  I just wish that you could report a moderator and it would be taken seriously... in my time lurking here I have seen several cases of extremely bad and biased moderator behavior and guess what? They are still moderators but I'm not going to start any commotions because this topic is a hard one in all honesty with very little possible solutions tat all can be happy with.

Regardless of where you go, there will be bad and good moderators, that's a fact of life, and a fact of internet forums!

Initial freedom here must be earn't, if that's the policy, that's the policy I suppose!
