Yeah, the S5 is getting old, i'm waiting for the new hardware too.

I see some guys create a chip who can do bitcoin and litecoin mining at the same time. I think that is the future. Is better wait a lil bit and buy when the new hardware came to the market.

It's not really a new idea... in fact SFARDS, the company that is making the BTC/LTC combo is composed at least in part by gridseed as far as I know.  Gridseed, if you recall, made those dual chip orbs last year.

As far as it being the future, I'm not entirely sure about that, but it is definitely a pretty interesting project.

Jonny's Pool - Mine with us and help us grow!  Support a pool that supports Bitcoin, not a hardware manufacturer's pockets!  No SPV cheats.  No empty blocks.

What should i get?

tell us your power cost.

if your power is 3 cents or 4 cents a kwatt used s-3's are pretty good.

tell us your noise requirements.

s-5's are really loud.

what can you do to keep gear cool?

Totally agree, if $3,000 isn't pocket money for you. Wink KnC Cloud is also said to open up their business to the wider public this fall with their 16mm chips.

Besides the excellent question that phillipma1957 raised, I would also ask: WHY mining?

Mining is the slowest, and possibly most expensive way to acquire Bitcoins. It is NOT away to get rich quick, or with minimal risk.

Well, I think people still remember the good old days when you could have your GPUs running. Even if that is long gone, I still make a little more on mining (and some trading) than I would on a regular bank account.

And it's fun to be part of something Wink

Best advice is to start of slow. Maybe buy a used miner and make sure your electricity in your area is reasonable. Then just treat it like a hobby and have fun.
