I dont have a lot of experience with Electrum, as I had just started using it a short time before my re-format. So I just re-formatted my hdd re-installed windows and re-installed Electrum. In the beginning I was given two choices-create a new wallet or continue an old one. I wanted my old one. It was asking for a "seed" and other things but the only info I was able to get was my old Electrum bitcoin receiving address. So I entered that and hit next and it showed my last deposit of 10 dollars, unverified and then after a few minutes it showed them as verified. Currently the wallet is empty and it shows my receiving address as the same address I had before I formatted. So my question is, did I do everything correct to restore my old wallet?
Sounds good to me, on first read. With the information below it sounds like you made a "watch only" wallet for your address.
Is the "seed" the "address"?
No.
When It asked for info and all I had was my old receiving address, and I entered it, was that enough to restore my wallet?
No. The address is only that, an address that allows others to send coins your way. It does not allow you to spend those coins, just to watch how much is there and to issue a transaction in that direction. The seed restores the private keys from which these addresses are calculated.
If you want to check whether you have access to the private key without risking funds, try signing a message[1] for the address in question.
