i guess alot of you already saw this video but take a look first:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=In7qmVNz10c#t=1h06m13s

it is a funny video because you can clearly see, that Krugman has no or just little knowledge about BTC. dont get me wrong, he is a clever guy but in that moment he has to talk about something but has no clue about it.

from the beginning:

the mod of the show asked her question and Krugman had already alot time to think about that question. after the mod finished her sentence, Krugman is still thinking....and thinking...and then:

"ähhhmm...ohhhh......yeah......"

"....bitcoin is not looking too good...ähhmmm...."
--> he is talking about the price here. typical for a "noob" , he just looks at the price, the easy part of BTC

"and ähhhhhhhhh...i mean....äähhhhhh......there...."

"money is an amazing thing" -->now he is trying to talk about something he knows alot about - money

"Why does a piece of green paper with a dead president on it have value? ultimately it's because other people believe it has value."
--> Then he goes on to say that BTC has no value. makes sense  Wink

"Bitcoin has not much econmic relevance because we already have a digital currency - the dollar".

--> again you can see that he has no true understanding of that technology.

"libertarians bought into it but it (BTC) collapsed"
-- >once more you can see he is only talking about the price because he doesnt no more about it.

"credit cards and dollar is digital and good enough"

"we are already there (with digital USD money)"

and then he is happy that this topic comes to and end i guess Cheesy

just look at his reaction and listen to his words. iam in bitcoin since almost 3 years and i can see if someone understands Bitcoin or not.

iam pretty sure and would bet 1 BTC , that he has zero or little knowlege what bitcoin actually is.
someone should educate him on that. it would be cool if he would understand BTC.

Wences where are you  Cheesy ?

No disrespect for the elder, but if you see anyone older than 60 talking about BTC, start doubting. I mean the biggest investor of all time, Warren Buffet, has absolutely no idea of what's going on. They are just ignorant as hell and can't blame them. This is a generational change, one of those things that older people just can't wrap their mind around. It's like the internet, it will take decades until you see older people using it.

Most people, young and old, don't have a clue about bitcoin. The difference is that young people don't get interviewed.

You are wrong about old people. Old people can wrap their heads around new things, but they just don't feel a strong need for new things because they have lived their entire lives quite successfully so far without them.

Finally, posters like neurotypical are amusing. The reality is that young people are quite stupid in general, but they are completely unaware of their ignorance. Don't worry. In ten years, you will see that I am right.

He is utterly clueless about Bitcoin but this has little to do with age. His comment about credit cards as the digital alternative to cash illustrates his ignorance very well. What he fails to see is that most people in the world do not qualify for a credit card but they can use cash, Bitcoin and other bearer instruments. In fact I would expect someone over the age of 60 to understand the value of cash and bearer instruments far better than the average 20 year old. So age in this case does not excuse his ignorance, it actually magnifies it.

Edit 1: I am old enough to remember a time when children and teenagers were not discriminated against in payments, as is the case today, because everyone used cash. I see Bitcoin and other crypto currencies is a way to return to that saner time.

Edit 2: A few days ago I was walking down the street on a very hot summer day and very thirsty, when I came across a couple of kids operating a lemonade stand. I of course purchased some of the lemonade and paid for it in cash. They did no accept debit or credit cards. I know of many 20 year olds who do not carry cash and would not have been able to quench their thirst.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

Krugman Is Clueless about Bitcoin

In this video clip, Paul Krugman demonstrates once again that prizes don’t make you an expert on everything. Indeed, his poor prognostications happen so frequently that one wonders if Krugman is an expert on anything. I don’t say that to be unpleasant. If you’re going on TV and enjoying a lavish lifestyle by pretending to know what you’re talking about, shouldn’t you be held to a higher standard?

Let’s pass over for a moment how woefully wrong Krugman was about the Internet. What about the internet of money?

Krugman first says: “At this point bitcoin is not looking too good.”
