I run a Mac using 10.6.8 and the wallet.dat file (plus some various other database and assorted files) seem to be occupied on user/library/application support/bitcoin.

Is it possible to run Bitcoin locally on your computer but have these files located on a USB drive? The idea would be that in the unlikely scenario someone hacked my computer remotely, they couldn't just copy the wallet file and either crack it or open it themselves.

Thanks and apologize if the question sounds dumb.

Very much appreciate the info. I'm unfortunately a Windows idiot (and I don't own a Windows computer anyways). Any Mac people around who can comment?

Thanks again.
