Let's assume that Multibit HD & Electrum (both of them) went down for one reason or another , and I only have the seed of of them and no other file backups at all  , is there is any method I could use to recover my coins on another wallet or there isn't at all ?

I'am not sure but I guess I saw Quickseller somewhere saying that people could use Brainwallet or something ? but now the website seem to be down too for ever so...

Looks like you don't have any choice, you just need to backup(CMIIW), store in paper wallet.

Don't be a super-paranoid. It just don't happen! Okay?!

There are many other HD wallets and HD recovery tools which you can use to recover your Bitcoins from seed. You can even run Brainwallet.org website locally if you want to use it!

Well I'am super paranoid but I guess you already know that , I'am even paranoid to make Paper wallet and after the years I found out that the Public key & the private key don't match Shocked
Also isn't this crpa that stole already a lot of BTC able to crack seeds of Electrum too ? https://rya.nc/defcon-brainwallets.html
Because if that software use Brainwallet.org and they run locally and offline as you said they could access Electrum if they got the seed  Huh

Well I'am super paranoid but I guess you already know that ,

Being a paranoid may do some good to you but being a super paranoid won't.

I'am even paranoid to make Paper wallet and after the years I found out that the Public key & the private key don't match Shocked

Public key can be derived from private key. So you only need to backup your private keys. What you said is not "plausible" unless if there is any mistyping/mistakes on your part when backing up. To check if you have done it right, you can just import private key and see if the private key you imported matches with the private key you exported.

If you are still not satisfied, you can backup a few wallet softwares which you can use if something like this ever happens.

Also isn't this crpa that stole already a lot of BTC able to crack seeds of Electrum too ? https://rya.nc/defcon-brainwallets.html

No. They can not crack Electrum seeds. Brainwallet crackers stole Bitcoins from weak brainwallets. They can not crack very randomly generated brainwallets.

You are mistaken between a brainwallet, a seed and brainwallet.org. Although a brainwallet and a seed are similar, all three are three different. A brainwallet is a passphrase which can be byhearted easily and to memorize easily, people usually use easy passphrases such as abcde12345, which is very easy to crack. Whereas, a seed is randomly generated data. Obviously, randomness will be high for computer generated data than human's. However, combining both will give a much better result.

P.S. See https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=311000.msg3345309#msg3345309.

Because if that software use Brainwallet.org and they run locally and offline as you said they could access Electrum if they got the seed  Huh

Electrum does not use Brainwallet.org. Electrum is a Bitcoin wallet and Brainwallet.org is a website which offers a variety of tools.

You are able to recover Bitcoin from seeds using Brainwallet.org because it has a tool which can be used to recover Bitcoins from a seed.

P.S. Also read, https://rya.nc/cracking_cryptocurrency_brainwallets.pdf.

Use paper wallet or old multibit client. I would recommend also bitcoin core, it will be always up to date and currently its very fast, almost like SPV wallets.

@Muhammed Zakir but I assumed since the Cracker software use Brainwallet.org and you could import Electrum seed there to read your wallet , cracker could be used to crack Electrum seed aswell . thanks

I almost have problems with all the wallets , Multibit Classic for example if I use CCleaner it deletes the empty wallets , Bitcoin Core is not as fast as you think because each time I run it I found the database Corrupted so it's kinda screwed and it takes shitload of time to Reindex
Going to stick with Electrum Smiley thanks for taking time and replying

They use brainwallet only for getting random words they can use to try and check if the addresses generated are worth something, which they would when another person already used them.

Though the electrum mnemonic seed is practically impossible to crack. It's too strong. So don't worry.

In case electrum goes down you won't have a problem unless you have all the private keys of your addresses. And even when electrum support would be stopped or all servers disappear, you still could open electrum and export all the private keys. With that you could import them in nearly all other wallets.

Nothing to fear here. Smiley
