Hi,

I have an idea for a new bitcoin related project, but i'm curios if there is any need for such a service.

The idea already exists and is relatively simple, a service to monitor bitcoin addresses.
You can check the balance of a bitcoin address using a front-end website, without importing any private keys.

You receive an alert by email/sms/twitter direct message when a transaction is made from or to a specified bitcoin address.

I noticed that there where several websites in the past offering this service, most of these websites are now unreachable/down.
I think this has something to do with the fact that they where all free and hosting a server/bitcoin wallet costs money.

So my questions to you are.

A. Is there a need for such a service ?
B. Are you willing to pay a small monthly fee for such a service ?

Well checking the balance of an adress is a service available but hundreds of website and API's like Blockchain.info , BlockTrail & other block explorers .
for what comes to the second part which is notification system then yes I really like and I would use definitly . (Prefer the SMS because if I have internet to check email & twitter .. I don't see why I would pay for this service since I can check my wallet then )  Grin
Also define "small" monthly fee . how much would that be

You can use the email & twitter notifications to monitor cold wallet addresses.
I'm thinking about a fee of +/- $ 2.5 a month.

But i'm completely open to any suggestions.

You can maybe look at this site for some inspiration, like the way they do it.

No alert feature though, guess it will come later as I see they are still in beta.

Thank you for the link.

I like the idea of having an overview of all wallets in one place.
For example: I now have multiple shortcuts to blockchain.info for wallets addresses.

I started programming a couple of day's ago on the following idea's.

* Have an overview of multiple wallet addresses in one place.
* Get alerts when you receive or send a transaction.
* Get alerts with bitcoin price changes.

Programmed so far:

* Back-end script that indexes bitcoin transactions.
* Script is still importing (I think this will take a couple of days).

Currently working on:
* Front-end/back-end login system

I would love to hear any suggestions.

I may have some , for what comes to those "alerts" they will send SMS to for each alert ? because if yes then it would be screwed and just spam our mobile phones and email adresses because Bitcoin price change frequently . but it depends if you are going to make it alert for each cent in price change or like 10$ or more
Secondly , If you are going to use Blockchain.info API then don't , you may wanna go with BlockTrail.com .

I won't be using Blockchain.info or BlockTrail.com, I will only use an API from a bitcoin exchange to get the price.
I have't worked out the price alerting completely, but i'm thinking about a percentage users can set before they receive an alert.

Example: Users will receive an alert when the price was rise 2% in the last 24 hours. (Percentage and time frame can per set per user).

I get what you're saying, and I don't want to create a spam storm.

If I'm not wrong, I think that many wallet providers already offer this type of service. But you can always try your luck!

Absolutely correct but there could be some unique features that he can add to it to make his own stand out.
