To put the BitMesh project into practical terms, every client will need to connect to a nearby BitMesh WiFi connection.  This BitMesh WiFi connection is provided by the client and through the BitMesh app, the server will be receiving the Bitcoin payments directly.  Once a client finds the BitMesh Wifi signal, they can connect to it without username or password and start using the internet instantly.

I actually think this is a great idea. I also don't have a dataplan on my mobile as it is very expensive and I just try find free wifi but they're not always available. I think offering to pay in bitcoins would be great for both users and also for the owners of the wi fi to get hold of some bitcoins for free (assuming you have unlimited wi fi anyway).

It's great also when you think of the opportunity that a proliferation of the above use case creates: to connect successful bitmesh hotspots to each other, and then use that connectivity to bypass some of the fixed line infrastructure. The more that model succeeds, the less you use the fixed lines at all...

This is one of those things that is bitcoin is perfect for! Might be a good reason for people to acquire BTC if they know they can get on wifi quickly and easily.

Well micro transactions are perfect for a MeshNet, but how will they implement the liability? When you sign a contract with your service provider, you are responsible for the activity on that service. If someone tap into your service and use it for illegal actions, who would be held responsible for their actions?

When you link onto a Free Wifi network now, it needs some authentication for you to use it, so you are still identified on their network. It's a interesting concept, but it still needs some brainstorming. I do not want to go to jail for someone doing #@%$ on my service.

Breaking your contract with your ISP is an entirely different thing than breaking the law and going to jail.  If you see illegal things, then either report it or don't.  Just don't knowingly facilitate and you should be good.

Most people will not have the skills, to know what is being done via their Wifi, and it's up to you to proof your innocence. To do this, they will have to fork out a lot of money to acquire the skilled people to do a forensic analysis that would stand up in court.

You are opening yourself up to a world of hurt, when you share your network with other people and you do not know what they are doing on your service. The article says, the user will be signing onto the service without a username and password, so how do they monitor the activity and actions of the visitors to your BitMesh?

It will be interesting to know, how they would implement this, but it's still a good idea.

Woah.  This is one of those ideas that seems so obvious that I think "how did I not think of it."  I hope I see this become real and widespread.  We are letting free the internet, and breaking up the monopolies with this.  Awesome

But how do I know, that someone using my network will not have access to my stuff?
