Why are we seeing altcoin banner commercials?

Are the devs finally realizing bitcoin is collapsing and trying to desperately make some last profits before it all crumbles down?
I find it strange altcoin-talk is not allowed on the forums besides that specific section, yet they are now using official banners to promote them?

I assume you mean the banners below every 1st post..
those banners are from the winners of "advertise on this forum" auction. it's not from the devs or anything.
