With all the fuss about bitcoin XT? I dont get it..
Do I need to update the wallet ? It is in my safe right now..

No, those coins will also appear on the XT fork if it becomes dominant. It's new coins, mined on the XT fork that will be affected, but only in the sense that they can't be used on the original (Bitcoin Core) chain.
