France train shooting: Europe on high alert after attack by heavily armed gunman

Train gunman named as 25-year-old Moroccan who was known to intelligence services as a radical Islamist who fought in Syria last year

Security was stepped up on major European rail services as fears of “blowback” attacks by jihadis returning from Syria escalated after a gunman known to the intelligence agencies opened fire on a high-speed train bound for Paris.

The name of the gunman was confirmed by French police as Ayoub el-Khazani, a 25-year-old Moroccan, known to Belgian, French and Spanish authorities, who travelled to fight in Syria last year, prompting the belief that the attack was linked to Islamic State.

French authorities were questioning Khazani at their counter-terrorism headquarters outside Paris as remarkable details continued to emerge of how the heavily armed gunman was overpowered by passengers on the train in France.

ISIS has indoctrinated many young Muslims in Europe with its ideology, and now this ''lonely wolves'' becomes a big security threat for all of us.
Also, some of their fighters are also coming back in Europe and it's impossible to control all of them.
This time we had a lot of luck because of the great courage of US Marines but what will happen next time?
Very dangerous times are coming for the whole of Europe.

Realistically it's true, everybody is being driven to a paranoid frenzy by this shit, they're certainly a threat, no question, but as with anything in the media they exaggerate the fuck out of everything to try and terrify us.

Are you serious? In the past 4 or 5 months alone, we had almost half a dozen incidents in France, which happens to be the most Islamized country within the European Union. And you can't compare these incidents to getting stabbed by drunkards. If you keep out of the local no-go zones, then you'll be safe from the drunkards. But terrorist attacks can happen anywhere.

It's cool that these American servicemen were able to quickly take action and defend the people on the train. I feel like we all need to be more willing to do that when terrorist-like acts are taking place. We can't let ourselves become captives to tyrants. We need to ostracize them...and sometimes that means actually fight back, quick and with confidence.
