So the quality of y'all water will also go down, rendering it unsuitable for drinking or cooking with, forcing us all to buy over priced bottled water. This sounds like a disaster. There's guns be riots next

Water purifiers can be a good solution. You can get some pretty decent pieces in many different sizes for moderate prices. Collecting rainwater and properly cleaning it can also help. (However if you take a look at the Bolivian water war, you'll see that Law 2029 handed over the ownership of rainwater for a private company.)

If we keep the population down, then there will be enough water for everyone. It is not a mere coincidence that the countries which are facing the worst water shortages (Afghanistan, Egypt.etc) are also the ones having the highest population growth rates in the world. The total amount of fresh water available is limited. If the population spirals out of control, there won't be enough for everyone.

There are 2 different issues, let's not mix them. One problem is scarcity, the other is price. There's plenty of water in Dubai despite the place being surrounded by desert. The problems are in Chad or Sudan where millions live with less than 2$ a day.

Also, I've noticed than in several European countries, cost of water is less than half the price of your water bill. House delivery and used water treatment costs more than water itself.

I used to be a citizen and a taxpayer. Those days are long gone.

No. They are not different issues. There is hardly any natural fresh water available in Dubai, same as the case with countries such as Chad or Sudan. So they have to first desalinize the salt water, and convert it to fresh water. That is why the water is so expensive in Dubai. And you should also remember that the population of Dubai has increased by close to 1,000% in the last 20 years.

And do you have any idea about the population growth rates in Chad and Sudan?
