The folks that chose to guess the total number were at a disadvantage. I didn't intend that, but that's how it happened. However, even with such a handicap several people managed to guess within 1000 bets of the target. Notably,

There was one entry that was so laughably bad, it had already fallen out of the running days before the event. It's hard to miss the mark by more than a few thousand in this game but this user managed to fail with style.
