Electrum error when clicking "Read QR Code" to send bitcoins

I am trying to send BTC using electrum.  Macbook Air OS 10.10.5, Electrum 2.3.2

-I click Send Tab
-I click the mini QR button
-I receive the following error "ERROR: zbar processor in _zbar_video_open(): unsupported request: not compiled with video input support"

Is this something on my end or a bug?

Its Electrum.

Windows 8.1 version 2.3.2 - 'Cannot start QR scanner. The zbar package is not available. On Linux, try 'sudo pip install zbar'

On Electrum LTC version 2.4.3.1 I do not get the error but nothing happens when clicking on the QR code.
