Computer Science degrees -a good investment?

Is paying all the tuition and expenses and all the hard work that goes into earning a computer science degree worth the investment or does experience over time pay for itself? Right now, YouTube makes it easy for anyone to learn computer programming and everything else related to computer is availible online. Even google has developed the technology to teach the masses of an intro computer studies class at the university level. I hated that course. I did not learn anything new and felt like I was wasting my college fund. The prof in the intro to VB.NET course had a style of teaching that does not suit me and I failed his midterm. (Keep in my I did not to the practice exercise, I was a bit arrogant at the time). Still that being said. Valve Corporation hired Bram Cohen, creator of BitTorrent, who as far as I know dropped out of college.

In my opinion, unless you're going to MIT it's not worth it. Even at MIT the only value is the MIT name and the experience of going to the world's leading technology institution. I find even that, considering the cost, is not worth it for me. And since I fall asleep during lectures it would be way to tedious for me to do practice assignments and I may end up failing. Experience pays for itself.

Some employers will want you to have a degree. For them it's a way to quickly go through a bunch of resumes. You haven't got a degree, then you must be lazy or something... NEXT!
And if you're worrying about the money keep in mind that if you're already studying and resign you'll be wasting it anyway.
