It can also be that more people are running nodes but not keeping them active all the time due to increased load. I don't think you can easily state there is such a macro-trend as neither variable can be easily measured.

The price could double tomorrow and it doesn't mean Bitcoin is twice as healthy. I will caveat this by saying perhaps the 90 day moving average price may well be the best indicator, but certainly not the spot price.
Here you got 90 days average price. Looks nice Smiley

Edit:

...and 90 days average market cap. Looks even nicer Smiley

Really interesting! The 90d avg market cap is already higher than it has ever been. It's my favorite indicator now! (lol). No, it really is a good indicator, one of the best.

Hopefully version 0.8, with "ultraprune" will reduce the costs associated with running a full node.  Ultraprune is vastly more efficient, and can be run on slightly older/slower machines than current versions.

I'm looking forward to that! I still run a full node occasionally and I will continue to run one as long as it's feasible. 0.8 is the most exciting release for me thus far.

Great! Will leveldb be in 0.8 too?

Yes, leveldb is a pre-requisite for ultraprune.

He may be referring to the lack of a continuation of the uptrend.

Oh right, could be.

The service was gone for over a month a while back, so I thought he was referring to that.

Sad but true, it's not going up anymore.

Nope.  I'm referring to how the data here is from about 10 days ago, and isn't being updated.

Is the site still functional?

The thread about the site has not been updated recently. However its creator nibor is still active on the forum.

It has worked until a view days ago.

Shameful, I must confess, I didn't know about this thread.

Had I know about it, I wouldn't have opend this thread in the first place, as now I'm not sure anymore how to interpret the informations.

There gmaxwell states that the collected data about nodes is pretty much worthless.

Note, the estimates of bitcoin client are now ~worthless: A few versions ago I changed the reference client to not advertise itself unless it was listening and knew its public IP... so it's expected that that count should go way down.

Or does this imply that a increase in listening Host stand for a even larger grow?

All previous versions of currency will no longer be supported as of this update

Wow this is pretty excellent news. The reason this had been falling forever was the macro trend of users switching primarily to e-wallets, and I doubt that trend will stop. So for the standard client number to be rising -despite- this macro trend is extremely positive.

Great analysis! I'm really excited about what Bitcoin is going to bring us in the future. Private torrent trackers accepting bitcoin is also a very good sign for mainstream adoption.
