So this thing called the crypto store has been all over my twitter fee the past few days.  Their twitter page says that they accept bitcoin and offer a ton of stuff but every time I go to their website thecyprtostore.com it is in maintenance.  Does anyone know if this is something old an deserted or if it is new.  Does anyone know who is making it either?  Here is the twitter: https://twitter.com/The_CryptoStore

If you mean thecryptostore.com then the domain is whois protected for me a big no no to start with.

Secondly its under maintenance so would just ignore tweets and definitely not attempt to buy anything from there.

Probably just another scam.

Just stay away from faulty websites. If they are not well built enough then the only possible reason why the site is down is they are not a legit one. If you want to purchase goods, there are plenty of ads here in the goods section. You might find what you are looking for in there. You should check that out. Wink

Yeah I meant thecryptostore.com.  What do you mean "the domain is who's protected."  They say "coming soon" on the twitter account.

It means the domain is protected from anyone being able to see who owns it:

https://who.is/whois/thecryptostore.com

This has all the marks of a scam, stay away.

What were you interested in anyway?

None of those are encouraging signs. I find it pretty amazing that people still choose to consider sites that offer no clue as to who's behind it, not that I'm saying that about the OP. It's up to the site operators to attempt to earn some trust and even then I'd want major track record to even dream of it.

I agree it doesn't look good. I wouldn't ever consider buying anything especially bitcoin hardware related from a whois protected domain. If a company is legit they should have the relevant information public and that should tally up with other publically available information.

Companies that go out of their way to hide this information are normally up to no good.

Having a healthy presence here is definitely a good sign however it's a bit rarer for retailers versus other services.
