I have an HIS (reference) 6970 that was chugging along at 470 Kh/s (litecoin). When I gave this card to a friend of mine (along with cgminer config) he could only get around 265 Kh/s.

The only thing I could think of that would cause this is, when I was mining with the card it was not the primary display device...could that have such a significant impact?!

Also driver version and SDK are the same.

EDIT:Improved grammar.

Thanks for the help, fixed the issue after some crazy troubleshooting. You're not going to believe this but...I took the cgminer from my rig Bart's (6870s) kernel and bam I get 477 Kh/s out of the cayman (6970) who woulda thunk it? Smiley it does run pretty hot (90C) but I ran it at that temp for a week with no problems or artifacts (ran a futuremark benchmark after). I think an aftermarket cooler will fix the temp problems cause its a reference card.

I guess if anyone wants to get more outta the cards use Bart's cgminer kernel?

90'C is pretty hot... I would be taking that card apart and cleaning all the dust and junk and reapplying your thermal paste.

90C - unless this is a VRM temperature I would try and lower it by 10C.

Bring it down to atleast 85° dude, I find that anything running 24/7 in the >81°C range has its lifespan drastically shortened

I think one of you has Dirty Drivers, You may have DriverSweep'd the drivers, And installed the "optimal ones" But No sweeper seems to remove Four OpenCL files that dictate the Kernal Compiling that CGminer does.
I heavily recommend that you talk to DeepCeleron about your problem, Since using a differant cards kernal is not the right thing to do, That just simply means your stuff is misconfigured

Talk to Deepceleron, He'll fix any problems.
Just be clear about whats going wrong.
