I responded to an ad to this ad on Craigslist and it sounds to good to be true, I was wondering if anybody could give me any insight on whether or not this is a scam. The email I received is as follows:

Greetings,

I am contacting you because you expressed you interest in a position we advertised on craigslist back in April.
The position got filled right away, but now we are looking to expand our team further.

We thought to contact you before putting up another ad.
If you are still looking for a job or just contract-based commission work, please read on.

My name is James Dickins, founder of BITCOIN INNOVATIONS LTD.
We are a British bitcoin trading startup and the position being offered is Operational Assistant.
Our latest product is www.cubixchange.com real-time exchange portal. This is the project we are hiring for at the moment.

The Operational Assistant has three main tasks:
- take deposits from customers who wish to trade bitcoins
- settle purchase orders with local Bitcoin suppliers
- keep track of monthly activity and put together customer-focused reports

Our ultimate goal would be to assemble a team of reliable associates, which will be in charge of the company's future operations in the US.
For the first 3 months assesment period we are offering a contract based collaboration, a fixed $1000 monthly salary and 5% of every processed transaction as commission.
We already have a solid client base in the US and finding leads or new clients is not part of the job.

I will be glad to explain things further if this position is of interest to you.

Thank you for your time,

Never heard of them before but checked the site and there are three things that already ring some alarm bells for me personally...

1) They say that they already have a customer base in the US but at the bottom of that site the following appears

Quote
At the moment, our exchange service is available only to cusotmers outside the US. We are doing our best to be able to offer our services worldwide as soon as possible.
However, we are able to accept cryptocurrencies from bulk US-based sellers and miners.

2) This site looks exactly like ShapeShift.io, not sure whether its a legit site or just a rip-off of ShapeShift

3) Cannot find any information on the Dickens guy, just did a quick LinkedIn scan and internet search. Not saying he does not exist, just did a quick scan.

Can be wrong but I will proceed with caution.

EDIT: Also see this, a quick company scan. According to this the company only has assets of about 2,000 pounds....

Another Edit: Also see this link. If he is a founder he will most probably also be a director but his name does not appear as a director of that company. He was up to last year but not anymore.

As said, proceed with caution.

Sounds like they are setting up potential customers for fall.
Don't think they are legit from what they are offering for in services. If nobody really heard of them then I am thinking they are a false. There is a company called shapeshifter that dos this same service but they are huge and I believe even had to acquire another company in order to do the final stage of programming to have their site to function properly.

Their site looks like a ripoff of shapeshift.io which is an automatic legit exchange and it doesn't require any manual assistant from anyone. What I don't understand is why they want to hire someone else to do this:

When they're advertising to trade only crypto and LBC afaik is mainly for BTC-Fiat trades. The whole thing sounds really fishy to me, I'd stay away if I were you.

There's a lot of red flags in this email...

1. Did you ever apply for a position with them "back in April"?

2. The title "Operational Assistant" sounds completely made up because you can't be an assistant to "Operational", that's not a thing or department or a business function. Operations Assistant would make sense, but not what they're offering

3.Why would they pay someone in Dollars just because the role is overseeing US operations? Does this person know that you live in the US?

Anyway, sounds like you've stayed away, which is good. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.
