Yes, I have been tired to online wallet which is vulnerable to get hacked, especially blockchain wallet and exchange wallet which can run out your money anytime. I use electrum so far, it's for for me who don't have enough have a big storage and big bandwidth.

I downloaded the whole blockchain a few month ago (~50Go) with BT Core. Now that i transfered most of my bitcoin on a paper wallet and the remaining satoshi on an online wallet, i deleted it.

50Go is too much for my tiny laptop...

Yes, I have downloaded the entire blockchain and run a full node at home. I do not however use that instance of Bitcoin Core as a wallet - only for supporting the network and development.

I have downloaded it and synced it ever since June 2011. Only recently did I buy a Trezor for better protection. You don't need to download anything anymore and your private keys are secure. This will give me freedom to let go of my full node in case the blocksize gets increased to an amount that will challenge my harddrive capacity. It also makes it possible to check my balance via smartphone (read only) using sentinel. Nice! The future is bright ahead with a hardware wallet. I'm still going to use Core for the time being, but with such a miniscule amount it makes me sleep much better at night. I believe only mining pools and exchanges, or perhaps some super-nodes are going to run a full node in the future.

I also use MultiBit, because Blockchain size is too damn big that my computer can't handle it.
So, usually I use online wallet and also Mycelium in my phone.
But, I wish I could use Bitcoin core in the future with my new computer. Smiley

I downloaded it once, but since last year I use Electrum to avoid the overuse of HD and network.

I do use Bitcoin Core. I run up the machine and sync the wallet every 3 days or weekly depending on need/time. I don't mind it at the current space especially when I have so much free space on my HDD at the moment. I do not see a reason for someone not to download the whole blockchain if they are able to do so.

No I haven't! When I first started using Bitcoin like the most of the users I tried with the Core first. None of my two laptops were powerful enough to run it, download the blockchain fast and to still have a usable environment for other daily things to do on the computer.

So I just gave up and I downloaded Multibit. Later I have switched to Electrum!

Used to - but unfortunately download speeds are rather slow where I am so it's not worth the time and effort to maintain. Now I mainly use a mix of Electrum and online hot wallets if the need arises. Aside from network security I don't really see a need to have the blockchain - especially given that there are currently enough nodes operating.

I use multibit HD and do not download the blockchain. Really I would like to, but it is too storage consuming for my "old" dual core pc with only about 250 GB HD. A lighter wallet has some risks but I cannot really afford to have that blockchain in my HD doing virtually nothing.

Blockchain downloads should come in milestones: 1 year back, 2 years back and so on, in order for people not to have to download the full blockchain to really own their coins.
