I just noticed that they changed the bet deadline on "Bets of Bitcoin" for this bet: "BFL will NOT ship any ASIC products before December 1st 2012" from 30th November to 26th November. Even after bets have been made on the 27th, 28th and 29th. Those bets are cancelled now.

Strange thing: Once you place a bet it says: "All bets are final.". So it seems they are not so final after all ...

What's going on there?!?!

Yeah, my bet got refunded. Sucks, would have been an easy win and I hadn't even seen the post in bfl forums.
It was obvious that they would not ship in november  Roll Eyes

Post in the bfl forums: https://forums.butterflylabs.com/bfl-forum-miscellaneous/437-asic-update-26-november-2012-a.html
That post makes it 100% clear that shipping will be delayed, that's why the deadline was changed I think.

Final as in you cannot request a refund.  But your bet can be canceled in certain instances.

Here's specifically what happened in this instance:

when an event concludes before the deadline or a major development happens (an official announcement etc.) we set the deadline to the day before and the bets after that is cancelled and refunded.

Lame.

Just goes to show these websites make up rules as they wish.

That "rule" was dated Jan 1st, 2012.    When was your bet made?

By the way, you got a full refund of your bet -- so you aren't out anything.

Yeah I totally agree. That it is totally lame that they don't let you can't cheat the system. I mean, what good is making a bet if you don't already know the outcome? That really sucks. What are they thinking?

I bet on Obama after the election because I knew he won and there is no way I am going to bet on Romney when I knew that he already lost. And then they go and return my bet because the election is already over. That is bullshit.

And now they won't let me bet on BFL not shipping before 12/1, just because BFL announced that they were not going to ship by 12/1. That is totally unfair! Do they expect me to bet before I know the outcome? How stupid do they think I am?
