McAfee: Bitcoin is “too Complex for the Average Individual”

John McAfee, the founder of McAfee anti-virus program and this year’s presidential candidate running with the Libertarian Party has criticized Bitcoin for being “too complex for the Average Individual.” and advised people to be cautious when using bitcoin.

“Here’s the problem with Bitcoin; it’s just like any emerging technology. The technology here isn’t Bitcoin, it’s digital currency. And with any emerging technology, the first few attempts are gonna have some problems. Now, you cannot deny that hundreds of millions of dollars have disappeared for various reasons with Bitcoin users,” stated Mcafee.

Hey, almost how like battling computer viruses and malware is too complex for the "average individual", eh John? You just have to build services that use the tech and present it in a approachable way, like say, McAfee Antivirus before it turned into bloated suckware.

Well concerning user-friendliness we are working on it.This will get better in future.
Regarding how Bitcoin works, it is not necessary that the average individual understands that.
Do women know how a car works? The majority does not, but they can drive a car. That's eough.
With Bitcoin it won't be different. So no worries.
Furthermore McAfee is a weirdo!Cheers! Wink

Overall I think he's right but it's the same argument for the early internet. He does show himself up as blatantly uninformed blaming third party services that shouldn't have been trusted in the first place for losses.

At first, people thought email was too complex for people to understand... now every second person on the planet use it without any problem. It was made easier with smart

GUI interfaces and cool bells and whistles. Not many people know how the financial system work, but they still use it... Why? ....Well because they do not have to know how the

gears change.. they just need it to work to enable them to use it.  Wink How many people know how a ATM work? ...but they still use it.
