The other day my servers HDD light was lit up like a Christmas tree, and since I have a SSD, I found bitcoin to be the problem and nuked it... which resulted in an error being thrown, I use an old client so this has probably been fixed already, but why is the adding of blocks so IO intensive?

Edit: And here I'm not concerned with reads, but writes! They wear the SSD...

0.8 will do a lot less writes.

I do Bitcoin stuff.
