I'm obviously new to Bitcoin (and no technical genius) and I have managed to transfer USD to mtgox.com. I then purchased btc with my USD and transferred my btc to my "bank".  At least I think that's what I've done.

Now I have no idea how to get the btc which is in my bank back to mtgox.com to sell it.

Please help.

I'm assuming that by "bank", you mean you've transferred the Bitcoins out of Mt. Gox back to yourself.

If that's the case, and you want to add Bitcoins to Mt. Gox, start by logging into mtgox.com. Go to the "Add Funds" page and scroll down a little to the "Add Bitcoins" section. Type in the number of coins you want to add for this single transaction and click "Send Bitcoins".

Mt. Gox will give you an address. Copy it. You'll use it once (and only once).

Go to your Bitcoin client that has the coins in it, and click "Send Coins". Paste in the address you just copied, and type in the same amount you entered on the Mt. Gox site. Now just wait a bit, and the coins will show up in your Mt. Gox account.

Thank you.  What if I accidentally sent the wrong amount of bitcoins to the specified address?  Are they gone?

transactions in bitcoin cannot be reversed, but you could send them back from the other address if you have access to both ends?

Thanks I was wondering that too. I set my account up but hadn't gone that far...

I don't know; I've never tried it. Wink

I imagine that number is just to help identify the transaction. I bet you could contact Mt. Gox and work it out. (Maybe not right now, Dwolla and everything...)

It went through just fine even with the wrong amount.  Thanks for the quick replies.
