To celebrate the launch of our web based client (see here for more) we are begining the launch of our documentation project.

Nolonger is our command line client the barrier to entry that it was (we have a web client, Woo hoo), our greatest is now writing contracts for assets.

I've not had the time to write good documentation, it's not my strong point and I've better things to do, but it is sorely needed.

So this is why we are commisioning a GLBSE Manual/eBook.

And we are paying 31BTC to do it (31 to celebrate bitcoin hitting $31USD)! That's over $900 dollery doos.

You can work as an individual or as a group(I'll then pay the group bid, and you decide yourselves how to divy the payment).

The goal is to have a filled out wiki (your choice of wiki hosting) that can also output the entire wiki as a pdf(wikibooks is a good example) ebook.

Copyright is CC (or whatever).

The wiki/ebook must explain in as easy to understand terms as possible(this is the minimum, more is better):

  • What GLBSE is.
  • How to use the basic functionality of GLBSE.
  • The concept of ricardian contracts.
  • How to create a contract to list on the exchange.
  • Some example contracts for shares, bonds, futures, options.
  • Explain how to trade on the exchange.
  • Give a complete guide on how to raise capital on GLBSE by listing.

You can of course organise the manual in anyway you want and include anything you like ,but it must cover the above as a minimum.

You can include images and diagrams.

Post links to your manual below (doesn't have to be the finished version until dday, would be nice to view progress)[no longer a competition]

You can of course email me with questions, contact current users of GLBSE for information on how they use it, you can also use this thread to ask questions on functionality.

Also I will be on irc this Friday for a couple of hours to answer questions at 8am Beijing time.

I would like to take this on.

I am happy to work as part of a group, but I am confident I can do this myself.  (I would likely enlist help from carbonpenguin)

gdoteof on irc

also, I can start sooner than June 17 if there is little interest and you want it done sooner.

maybe better to award a bid than make it a "contest" - otherwise a bunch of people end up doing work and not getting rumunerated for it, which kinda sucks.

Sure, bidding then if thats what it takes.

eof, if you want sure can do sooner.

As I said I'll be on irc on Friday to answer any questions about glbse, so you can get all the details you need then.

I've now updated this, it's a bid and not a competition.

Post below if you're interested and be on irc tomorrow (Friday) to get the information you need.

Excellent eof, also I'd like to see a section about asset options as this is something that I'm currently working on but it's not ready yet.

A link to see the progress would also be great.

I'm or irc now(for the next few hours) BTW.

Hey nefario;

I am on IRC right now; and will be for an hour or two.  You can also email me at gdoteof@gmail.com (will be slightly better than here for the next 36 hours or so as I take a train across half the US).

I have not started on this beyond getting very familiar with glbse in general.  I don't want to sink much time in just to find someone else has been working in the background and then not get the bounty.

You can see examples of my writing (bitcoin related):
http://gd0t.com/node/16
http://gd0t.com/node/15

And I built www.iusecoins.com (and many many others, but this is the only btc related)

If and when you decide to award the bounty to me I'll set up the hosting, do the mediawiki install, and crank out the articles.  I am fine with also doing a section on asset options; I can speak about what they are generally; or if you already have the interface worked out I will add a how-to section for that as well.

I would employ Matt (carbonpenguin) for some of the non-technical articles; but we would work that out internally.

The way it would work ideally (for me) is to be awarded the bounty but not take any payment until the wiki is actually up and at the minimum level we have agreed to.  From there I will have 7 days to get things upto snuff; at which point I would accept payment.  (That is, I just want a guarantee that if I do the work I will be paid for it, but I don't mind being paid until after the work is complete.)

If you find someone else compelling that wants to take this on; I'm totally fine with that.  31btc is a juicy bounty for this.  If you award to someone else and they want help with hosting or getting an install set up or just some of the article writing, I would be fine taking on only part of the work.  Otherwise, I'd just assume take responsibility for the whole thing and crank it out.

Just to note that no work was delivered by AntiVigilante, said he'd gotten 1/2 of it completed then I never heard from him again.

This offer is now closed.
