Many of the cold wallets at Cryptsy have known public addresses. Will developers do something?

actually a fork and coin swap avoiding giving the holder of cryptsy wallet (and giving it to the rightful holders who prove they sent it to cryptsy), is a viable option for small alt coins.

If an alt-coin tries to do this then such a coin should be avoided.

Concerned that blockchain bloat will lead to centralization? Storing less than 4 GB of data once required the budget of a superpower and a warehouse full of punched cards. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/87/IBM_card_storage.NARA.jpg https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card

I agree. We wouldn't consider taking any such action. But it will be interesting to see how the larger community votes.

If an alt-coin tries to do this then such a coin should be avoided.

If an alt-coin CAN POSSIBILY do this then such a coin should be avoided.

100% fungibility for the win.

Only Proof Of Shit coins need to fork. YOu idiots that think PoS is secure ignore the facts. Look at Vericoin after Mintpal hack. You invest in PoS you are investing in the security of the exchanges they trade on. Imagine if BTC was PoS after Gox, that would have been the end of crypto.

PoS is for pump and dump scammers, seriously unless you are just a trader avoid pos because they are completely insecure.

Im pretty sure coins will not try fork them out (i mean some could, but most will not). It could however mean some cheap coin or reduction in altcoin prices because we do not know if cryptsys funds will be dumped on different exchanges. It could possibly create a pretty big crash at least temporarily.

It should not be done. Forking coins out of the cryptsy's cold wallet is not a good idea. None of the good developers do that for any cause. Cryptsy is being dragged to court with lawsuits are planned to file against them. With this thing, no one should touch any of the wallets of the cryptsy holdings. However, with court proceedings, officially anything can be done. Whatever way, we take the coin out, those coins don't worth much in exchanges.

Corporations or companies don't seem much relevant to court cases in this kind of thing, surely?

Aren't the criminals who actually told the lies committed the fraud stole the funds and so on the responsible parties, no contract or company or corporation protects the individual living human perpetrators in such cases does it?

one lesson everyone should learn from this is never leave more then you are directly currently trading on any exchange.

i also make sure i never leave more then 10% of my crypto holdings on all online places combined.

learn cold storage and how to secure your own coins.

alot of alts coins had a significant percentage of their totals in cryptsy wallets, now this hangs over all their heads (as they could be dumped at any time and at any price), so not only those directly using cryptsy will be the losers.
