The thing is that a blockchain research has not necessarily to do with Bitcoin. I doubt that official authorities will do blockchain implementations on the Bitcoin blockchain. They're rather will clone some POS coin and create a state-controlled blockchain.

yep thats why its "blockchain research" not bitcoin research.
ofcourse they want 100% of their own currency, even though gold has value most governments threw it away for their preference in their own paper. so if they were to adopt a blockchain currency, it aint gonna be bitcoin

This spells nothing good for Bitcoin, when a economic power house like China starts developing their own "Blockchain" technology. If they succeed we will see a lot more of this :

The world economy and more specifically the USA are closely linked with Chinese markets and the currency they trade with... introducing a new currency or technology could

upset this relationship.

The link is in Chinese so can be read and learned what is in only by Chinese people or them who knows Chinese language. But I can tell only one thing. With or without the involvement of the Chinese Government in this initiative every move regarding bitcoin in China is going in the right road. As I told even before in my post there is only one end of all this story. Bitcoin will be fully regulated in China. What is unknown and will be so since the finalizing of all this long process (as it is usually every adoption of the new things in China) it would be the status which will have bitcoin after this regulation. Can be to many and each of those do good to bitcoin but the best would be to be adopted as a currency. If so, the impact that will have in all the world will be tremendous. If so, bitcoin can "breath" for the first time on its life the air of the real freedom.

not really. its still a government currency..
the only difference citizens will see is instead of
pay:[Account:0123456 bank branch: 45-67-89] it will be
pay:[GaRand0m4ddre55un1qu3t0p3r50n].
but essentially they will still do the same thing in their lives and the unit of measure would be the same inflationary crap

No government run Blockchain is ever gona be run for the good of the people,  it will have all the shit as fiat and be designed to keep the banks in control.  It wont make a difference to bitcoin infact i would guess that it will make people see the benefits that bitcoin brings.

It is a good new for the bitcoin technology. The Chinese was heavy into mining, now, they are doing some research. The results of their research can also be applied to bitcoin in the future.

If they ever create their own state-controlled crypto-currency, one of our darkest nightmares will happen. I hope this won't lead to something like this Undecided.

This is not a question of "if", but "when". The Chinese government (Central Bank) has decided to create its own digital currency.

Do you guys think that could jeopardize the growth of bitcoin, as people would turn to this government-based coin instead of btc? I mean, not bitcoin current users, but new people who don`t have any ideia what cryptos are...
