I just noticed this and i am pretty surprised, I was just on the CEX website, (for those who don't know CEX is a large 2nd hand electronics retail within the United Kingdom).

I went to the checkout and noticed a Bitcoin payment function, i never knew this !!

Next time i go into CEX in my town I'm going to pay Bitcoin what an experience.

I just thought i would let you all know incase you didn't know already !

It's been going for several months or longer. I've offloaded loads of crap for BTC. It's a great service and perfect for brits who want to dabble. Everyone's got something they can sell to them.

Yeah i literally just posted about this yesterday but it got sent into trading discussion. I wasnt sure if it was still working or not because id never heard about it on here or anywhere (you would think it would be highly publicised on here of all places).

But anyway, im going to take in a load of my old games andd things and see if i can swap them for some bitcoin Smiley

Yeah they have, and they make it pretty clear Bitcoin is accepted in their website footer and on the sell / buy item page. Can imagine its got a fair few people involved.

Have you used it yet? i asked the question in the thread i made before but never got any answers. Im wondering do you just get a receipt printed off and then scan that to get your coin or do you give them an address and then they send the bitcoin to it?

I've only sold to them online. In that case you add your address to your account and the money arrives. I would've thought in person stuff might be rather creakier as there must be stores that haven't had a transaction yet.

Yeah i was expecting to go in and try to sell a few games and then get a kind of puzzled look when i say i will take payment in bitcoin, Since where i stay im pretty sure not very many people are into bitcoin. you never know though. =p

I bought a blu-ray with BTC at the Cardiff store in the shopping centre. They said that 2 others had sold items for BTC before me and I was the third user of BTC but first to purchase something. Only one guy knew how the process worked. This was in January last year(2015) I believe. The rest of the staff watched as though it was a big deal but the guy making the sale was pretty excited lol.

Yeah I read about cex accepting bitcoin. Good thing is there is literally like one in every city. I also read that some had a bitcoin atm too. Definitely worth a look into

I wouldn't get too excited about this,  went in today and got expected response from first girl behind till,  second knew enough to ask her colleague who knew enough to say that they aren't set up for it.  Appears to just be selected stores.

Still good news. The mere fact that they are pushing bitcoin adoption is crucial, it may be not available everywhere so far but one day it will.
Keep on asking for BTC, we are still rather small minority. But if CEX now accepting BTC maybe eBay will start tomorrow?

For sure, id say from the response im the first person thats ever asked about it in this store in particular. Im sure i read on the web[age that its been running since 2014 so i just hope enough people ask to buy/sell in bitcoin to keep demand high enough to justify it, Or else they might just decide to remove it Sad

Wow that's awesome, I used them all the time for my gaming needs back when I was living in London. I remember they were the first (or so it was claimed) to get the original Xbox in the UK (believe it or not they were selling it for around 1200 pounds !!). It's a shame they don't ship outside of the UK.

That's great.
I first thought you meant CEX.io (the exchange) but this company is way better.
Having such a big company step it really means something big is on the horizon.

Yup, CEX not only accept BTC and pays for your stuff in BTC, but they also have Bitcoin ATMs in many of their stores.

I wouldn't get too excited about this,  went in today and got expected response from first girl behind till,  second knew enough to ask her colleague who knew enough to say that they aren't set up for it.  Appears to just be selected stores.

Or it might have been a case where staff wasn't properly trained in dealing with BTC (or forgot what they've learned), so it was easier for them to lie about not being set up to avoid dealing with it. It's pretty common for any retail staff or customer service to give you a bullshit response whenever you have any more complex/unusual query. After all, most of them are teens or in early 20s.
