GUIminer crashing after startup

Hey guys,

Ive been interested in pool mining bitcoins for a while now, and ive recently tried my hand at it.
So I downloaded GUIminer, extracted it, ran it....all that jazz.
However, guiminer.exe appears in my processes, and in my taskbar for about 20 seconds, then just closes and terminates the process.
Also, I can't find the poclbm folder in my 'Roaming' section of my appdata. It's rather strange!

I have a HD radeon 4800 GPU and an AMD phenom II X6 1090T black edition.

Would anybody be able to help me solve my issue?

I've got 2x 4870 and the instant I boot guiminer it just crashes with "guiminer.exe has stopped working", searching now for a solution.

Win7 32-bit
E8500
4GB DDR2
4870 CF

Catalyst 12.6, downloading AMD-APP-SDK-v2.8 as we speak to see if it fixes things.
