What do you think another wave of alt mania would do to Bitcoin's place in the world?

It was relatively clear in 2013 that most alts were shitty and amateurish in the main often put together by utter scum and sold on exchanges run by scum.

In these exciting modern times we have developers who've learnt vast amounts more, real VC money willing to invest in real development and some actual use cases with major business interest. No doubt there'll be some very compelling systems being launched in addition to the ones that are flying now.

Some of these may present use cases that far exceed Bitcoin's present market cap regardless of their adoption levels. Where do you see it all heading?

Bitcoin is Coca-Cola.  Litecoin is Pepsi, Doge is RC.  The rest of the altcoins are the shitty store brands that don't taste right or home brew cila with lint and bug parts in it.  How's that for a nutshell comparison?

Agreed but I'm talking about alts to come. The interest, investment and knowledge is way, way higher than it was when the current crop were born. I'd hope that would mean a better and more compelling class of coin than scam.

lol Litecoin is Pepsi, Doge RC? You have no idea, Litecoin and RC are dead.

Ethereum has a marketcap of 0.5 Billion and yesterday Microsoft joined them.

Look also @ Iota and other coins.

Sorry, but you live in the past, wake up.

Alt wave 2.0 is already in full swing, its just that these networks are more focused on other features like storage or contracts rather than currency.

So to answer the original question, this new wave will be complementary to Bitcoin since they will be more like a commodity and will need a currency like Bitcoin to maintain liquidity in their markets.

I think that comes with the condition however that Bitcoin can get its shit together. If the network is stays capped at its currency capacity due to blocksize limits, there are plenty of alternatives for moving value around - whether it is LTC, monero, something new, or just using one of the commodities like Ether as a defacto currency.

Please. If BTC is Coca-Cola then Litecoin is bottled muddy water at best.

Both Lite and Doge are a joke for today's standards as they doesn't offer anything extra at all. I think they should have been dead a long time ago.

Monero is more like bacon flavoured soda; very few people like it and the ones who do can't shut up about it making it that much more unattractive for everyone else.

The altcoin scene is like a bunch of Coke-bottle glasses nerds trying to dickslap each other whilst the real players make off with the china and silverware.  Litecoin may be what you said, but at least its been around a few years and has a few inches to slap around.  Ethereum and these other ones are limpid worms that you boys should just put away.  And how about Dash?  These coins I mentioned have such faster confirmation times that bitcoin it's unbelievable.

Following your analogy, a few limp inches at best. Litecoin is more like the 70+ year-old dude in the gym changing room with his balls hanging lower than his actual dick.

I'm not a huge fan of Ethereum but it achieved more in a few months than Litecoin ever did.

You do realize you ended your post with a dick measuring contest right? I mean if only looking at confirmation times is not a silly dick measuring contest then I don't know what is.

I'm sure gentle and ment this to be more of a technical discussion and less of shills coming to pump their coin...

Although I have to agree, litecoin and doge have no advantage over more advanced codes around. One was 2nd and the other caught on due to its stupidity.

Plenty of projects with real tech being developed right now.

Well, sure.  And in the crypto world, I'm like the 70+ year old dude with not only his sack wagging like a grandfather clock but lost in an Alzheimer's fog looking for his membership card in the bathroom medicine cabinet.  Litecoin has been stagnant but you know the internet stock boom was much the same way, where old school stocks like railroads and so forth got hammered whilst the no-earnings shits went to the moon.  It's just not fair.
