When I started getting change back from some BTC transactions, new addresses appeared in the Armory wallet as Italic Text.

What does it mean that they persist appearing this way.

Does it mean those addresses are newly generated and that I need to do another backup / paper backup like when I first installed. ?

Those addresses are change addresses that Armory automatically generates for you to send any change to when you spend inputs. That is normal behavior and nothing to worry about.

Since Armory is a deterministic wallet, it is not necessary to back up Armory again. Once is enough because the master key that is used to generate all of the addresses is also backed up.
