Various major online media outlets are currently spreading Bitcoin ransomware and other types of malware to website visitors. Among the culprits are AOL, BBC, and The New York Times, as their common ad network has come under attack by internet criminals by the look of things. It's very difficult to protect yourself from evil ads on trusted news sites for example. I remember that my antivirus started to go insane after opening the nr1 news site in my country around a year ago. Not sure what kind of virus it was, but I thought it had something as 'stealer' in its name. The only thing I can do is make sure my antivirus is up to date.
